"poor customer service/relations experience w / Magnavox"
Pros: Good low price on Circuit City sale, paid about $1,700 after AAA discount. TV picture was average. Nothing is really a "PRO" about this TV except the price
Cons: Picture = Average, Sound = POOR, HDMI SYNC with ATT STB MISERABLE, Magnavox customer svc = POOR, Magnavox warranty poor compared to others.
Summary: Received this TV 1/2/08. By 1/20 was having trouble with pic/sound sync and freezing. Problems got worse, HDMI errors with ATT STB. I had 5 different ATT techs go completely through wiring, exchanged STB, software upgrades, etc. KUDOS to ATT for their hard work and customer service. THUMBS DOWN to Magnavox for selling a faulty product, with a limited warranty and no ability to address their faulty TV. THUMBS UP to Circuit City for exchanging the Magnavox for a Samsung. Samsung is amazingly (night and day) superior (SOUND, PICTURE and FEATURES) to Magnavox. If you are looking for a large LCD TV, look to Samsung, LG, Sony. AVOID Magnavox/Phillips. DO NOT BY THIS TV. I have had no problems since installing the Samsung. The problem with the HDMI was clearly with Magnavox and they refused to acknowledge it. NOT WORTH THE MONEY. The headaches will last longer than the joy of the low price. Magnavox phone techs were friendly, walked me through a software upgrade, but in the end didn't address the problem with their product and offered no help or solution. BAD MAGNAVOX.
PIcture was just average, OK for TV. I can say this after comparing to the Samsung.
Sound quality was poor, tinny sounding and there seemed to be annoying volume differences between the program and commercials and from one channel to the next. Again, the Samsung has superior sound and is more even from channel to channel. The worst problem was the Magnavox's inability to sync with the HDMI signal from the ATT STB.
