"Simply stunning; spectacular. CNET should obtain one to review themselves"
Pros: One of the best pictures I have seen. At this price, it performs as well as HDTVs that cost twice as much.
Cons: Heavy. Although this is due to the sheet of glass and heavy duty case materials, which are still a nice touch. The glass front means no more expensive LCD cleaner, just buy windex.
Summary: I've been researching a TV to buy for the past month or so, and after seeing this on sale for $1200 at Tiger Direct, and reading some reviews, I just had to buy it. I was a little skeptic not being able to see it in a store first, but after installing it I have no regret at all. There is a reason it won Wired Magazine's best of test 2008. Also, don't let the contrast ratio of 1:1600 deter you. Contrast ratio is a completely bogus statistic, which is why the tv with the absolute best black levels (Pioneer Kuro), doesn't even tell you a contrast ratio. There is no uniform way of testing the tv for it, so many manufacturers inflate the value. The blacks on this tv are up there with the best of the LCD HDTVs. Obviously not Pioneer Kuro quality, but no LCDs are. Buy this TV while it's still on sale for $1200 at tigerdirect, it will not last. The only reason I did not rate it a 10 is because nothing deserves a 10 in technology. Lastly, I am very surprised CNET has not tested this TV, especially after Wired named it the best HDTV.
