"No problem with HDMI"
Pros: Excellent value for money; great picture
Cons: Needs 2 HDMI inputs: cable box and DVD player
Summary: Reading the two previous comments I'm convinced the problem for both users is in their Comcast box, specifically in the circuitry where Comcast creates a digital signal from their analog channels.
The ideal way to connect a cable box to a HDTV with digital inputs (HDMI or DVD) is to run both component cables and a digital cable from the cable box to the HDTV. When you are watching HD programming, select the DVI or HDMI input. When you are watching analog programming, select the component input. The cable box's circuitry that generates the artificial digital signal from their analog channels is notoriously lousy.
I don't understand why HDTV manufacturers don't provide TWO DVI or HDMI inputs. Almost all HDTV users have both a cable or satellit boxe and a DVD that outputs a digital signal. A DVI or HDMI A/B switch is another $200+!
