"Amazing Picture - Best in Class" on by Wufflewump
Pros: Excellent picture even on weak cable signals. Competes with Plasma for picture quality, without the screen glare. Audio Leveler plays shows and commercials at equal volume.
Cons: Sound Quality: Good bass and lower midrange, but treble seems shrill and hissy. Only 1 HDMI input. Limited functions on universal remote.
Summary: The Panasonic TC-26LX60 represtents an amaxing value in an LCD television. Picture quality rivals that of plasma in colour, contrast and brightness.
I looked at nearly every model available through every consumer manufacturer. What sold me on this was when I saw it at one
particular vendor that had all the 26" TV's set up on a single wall. It allowed me to easily compare it to the competitions LCD's and Plasmas at a glance. I even played with colour controls on the closest models to ensure the great picture wasn't an illusion based on settings. It wasn't. It easily produced the same picture quality colour and contrast as the tubes and plasmas on the same wall. Plus, being an LCD, it doesn't have the
reflective screen glare of the glass on a tube or plasma. This in my opinion allows the user to experience an even better picture especially in well lit rooms.
Once home, Picture quality even on a marginal cable signal is amazing. I was considering buying a digital cable box, but am not sure that one is needed now. Colour quality out of the box is great, but slightly saturated. With a little tweaking, it looks even better.
One nice feature is the ability to set and save three standard colur setting groups for each of the tv's 6 inputs. Another is the audio leveler, which keeps you from beeing blown out of the room with commercials. This feature needs to be turned off for music because it seriously reduces dynamic range. You can also adjust input volumes independantly so output level remains constant when switching inputs.
The sound is better than most tv's but over equalized to produce better sound. Highs are hissy and shrill. Upper midrange is reduced. Sounds very reminiscent of a real cheap getto blasters attempt at widening frequency range of poor quality speakers. This can be adjusted some with bass and treble controls, but not to the extent that I would like.
A universal remote comes with the TV but has limited functions for additional equipment. It has basic buttons only for dvd and vcr players. There are no menu or setting options available for additional components so in most cases the original remote is needed.
Overall though, the TV offers a great value by providing amazing picture quality. My only real regret is that Panasonic maxes out their LCD line at 32"s. I would like a 37" to 40" for my family room and need to look at other models that I consider inferior to this one. I'm holding out for now, and hoping that Panasonic changes their model line soon to provide some larger LCD units like this one. -
"SPECTACULAR : PANASONIC VIERA 26' LCD TV" on by jeanpaul20
Pros: Best image quality of all others 26' LCD - beautiful design
Cons: No clock inside.
Summary: One week use report :
Excellent quality picture, even standard TV looks great!
Viera picture looks spectacular ( little better than Bravia ).
Great sound, beautiful design, the 26-inch model is perfect for the bedroom.
I'm very very happy with my Panasonic Viera TC-26LX60 after 1 week of use. -
"The virtually perfect mid-sized LCD TV" on by tcampbell1953
Pros: Excellent value and bright vivid colors--even standard TV looks great!
Cons: Cabinet not as stylish as some; base swivels only 20 degrees
Summary: We've been Sony-loyal up-to-now, but the TC-26LX60 picture looks almost as good as the Bravia XBR for alot less money. The 26-inch model is perfect for the bedroom. The silver/black cabinet is not as svelte as the Sony, but the excellent HDTV picture is the reason to buy it!

"specTACULAR performance!" on by dewipe
Pros: incredible picture, ATSC/NTSC/QAM tuners, setup
Cons: not PC compatible
Summary: I don't have a single complaint about this unit. The picture is awesome, setup was easy and flawless, connections are numerous, QAM tuner worked immediately off the direct-cable channel scan, aspect ratio automatically set based on the incoming signal type. The only reason I didn't give it a 10 is the lack of a PC connection, and that's pretty nit-picky.

"Best bang for the buck I found; simply an awesome TV." on by docrq
Pros: Current technology, price, display, sound, NTSC and ATSC/QAM tuners built-in, looks, footprint, and I set it up in 5 minutes!
Cons: As you can tell... I really like it, no complaints. One thing only -it's not PC compatible, so just buy a seperate LCD monitor!
Summary: Granted, this is my first LCD TV, and HDTV w/ digital surround sound just blows me away. This LCD TV has all the connectibility you'll likely ever need, and is current with the technology. Cablecards aren't all they're cracked up to be, you know, and DLP's and Plasmas are STILL TOO EXPENSIVE. It's got practically every I/O port you may want, and a big plus is the HDMI port. That's state-of-the-art (ONE cable for digital sound in AND video in from external peripherals). I got a really great price on it (no extra tax or shipping $ from Amazon.com!). I hope it's ok to mention that guys - Check one out in HD, seeing is believing. A Prog Scan DVR-VCR Combo w/ HDMI is next! Peace. -Doc-
