"First LCD Set and I am impressed"
Pros: Picture quality; sound; large numbers on remote
Cons: none to list; yet
Summary: I usually do not like posting any comments on any item purchased until after owning it for 30+ days, but being impressed with the picture and sound quality after owning this set for only 1 day, I figured I?d give my 2 cents worth. We started looking at the Sony Bravia's but discovered for the price the Panasonic gave a much better picture (860 vs 1300.) I am using standard cable, not digital or HD, but cheap analog cable, so I am not getting the full results that I will get once I move up the service; But the sound and picture quality was surprising; We watched the 'Lake House" DVD, through a regular non-HD DVD player (Sony SLV-380P) Again, the light to dark was fantastic; You could even see the dark wood grains in the black paneling of the wood and the differences of the colors, namely the difference between Keanu Reeves green shirt and the green chair he sat in. The shadows, even under daylight and night lights, were perfect. I thought I was in a movie theater watching the movie, not at home. The fact that I plugged this in to the existing old analog hardware in this house and saw definite improvement, was the part that really impressed me most.
I am not an extended warranty person, but due to the newness of LCD's on the market vs the old CRT's, the extra 100 does provide a piece of mind and recommend getting one.
