Pros: Price, picture quality
Cons: No extra features, minimal image control, few ports, reflective screen
Summary: One nice byproduct of the move towards 3D, feature-rich smart TVs is that the relative price of simple, bare-bones, 2D televisions like this one has gone down. I bought the Panasonic TC-P50U50 to replace a 5 year-old 42" Panasonic plasma that cost over a thousand dollars at the time. I was able to get this 50" model for $700 (plus tax).
If you've read the review you know this television is not capable of much except outputting an excellent 2D picture, and in that way it delivers. It took me awhile to tweak the "Custom" picture setting for the best results, but now it looks great. Blu-rays, unsurprisingly, really pop. Of course you also get the plasma benefits of uniform off-angle viewing and deep blacks, though if I *had* to complain about one thing in the image department it's that the screen is very reflective. My old set did a much better job of attenuating reflections; fortunately the new one is in a dark room, but it might be something to consider if glare is an issue for you.
