  • "Still not bright enough for me."
    on by JAYHOLOWKA

Pros Size is pretty good for most rooms.
THX mode is fine for movies.

Cons Only Vivid mode would work in a brightly lit room, and that causes IR and burn-in issues.
This thing acted like a mirror with lights in the room.

Summary I seriously considered this TV for my large bonus room, but ended up purchasing a larger LED TV. I really wanted to fall in love with this unit, but it just wasn't right for me. The VT30 wasn't bright enough for my room, except in VIVID mode. It reflects all lights like a mirror, so unless you're only watching movies in a dark room, it doesn't make sense. Yes the PQ in THX is very good for movies in dark rooms, and if that's all I needed, I would definitely look at it. The price was reasonable for the size.

  • "Great TV with outstanding picture!"
    on by DevilDawg1987

Pros Slim profile, very dark black level, great 3D performance

    Cons very heavy

Summary The picture was great out of the box; however, I calibrated the picture and made sure the 3D configurations matched my Panasonic DMP-BDT310 3D blu-ray player and the picture actually got better.

I also have a Samsung C8000 3D LED LCD TV. I have gone from my bedroom (where the LED is) to the TV room (where the Panasonic is) comparing the picture and in my very humble opinion, I don't think one is better than the other, only different. The LED picture is very sharp, like you're watching TV on a computer monitor. The LED also has the 'soap opera' affect (i.e. when you're watching a movie, it looks like your watching a news program/reality show). The Panasonic has a great picture, but the sharpness is muted.softer. The LED also has a very bright picture; it makes the Panasonic look darker. The LED also has the 'wow' factor. Each person that I have showed the LED to, their first reaction was 'WOW! That looks real'. Their reaction to the Panasonic is 'great picture', but I have yet to get a 'Wow'. Again, I'm extremely happy with both; each has a great picture, only different.

If you are a future buyer, please note the following: this TV is very heavy (140lbs). Please ensure the stand you are considering will handle that kind of weight. Also, the 3D glasses that came with my TV were not the latest version. They are bulky compared to the newer version.

  • "Best TV I have ever had!"
    on

Pros Black levels are excellent, great motion while watching sports, new age and thin design, realistic color levels.

Cons The TV is rather expensive.

Summary I am extremely happy with this TV and it was well worth the money.

  • "Solid performer, Great for any Man Cave"
    on by stylz

Pros Deep Blacks, THX mode good enough for people who don't want a pro. Solid feature set.

Cons Glass panel reflects light in most rooms, Infra-red glasses lose sinc in Bright rooms, EXPENSIVE!

Summary Easily one of the best TV's on the market today, This set is a great choice for anyone who wants top notch performance and has the room and budget to match. Its THX mode is pretty good although your room needs to be fairly dark to really take advantage of it. Speaking of dark The main complaint with this set is the glass panel tends to reflect ambient light more than I would like. Finally this set tends to be much more expensive than its closest competition.

  • "excellent TV"
    on by mpescetto

Pros I have had this TV for 2 weeks now and I am very happy with it. Hi-def channels are crispy and beautiful. I like a brighter picture for my room so I use the vivid setting, but for movies you can't go wrong with the THX mode. Blacks are so inky black they

Cons I would like to have another set of 3D glasses to come with the set. For $4300 it seems a little cheap to only include one set, though I guess Panasonic's thinking probably is that if you can afford a $4000 tv then you have the money to buy more glasses.

Summary You get what you pay for in this high end plasma. Picture, color, and 3D are all excellent. Blacks that are impressive even to a non-believer. Super slow internet suite, and wish that it came with another set of 3D glasses are my only complaint so far.
