"Excellent monitor, you won't be dissapointed."
Pros: picture quality, style, price.
Cons: none so far
Summary: Like most people I agonized over what flat panel TV to buy for several months before finally pulling the trigger. I finally decided that given the rapid changes occurring in regards to TV technology there would always be something better just over the horizon and that was inducing a sort of paralysis when it came to deciding to buy. I concluded that within 3 years I was probably going to want something that incorporated one of these upcoming technologies (SED,OLED,FED,etc..). Well I didn't feel like waiting 3 years and I also didn't feel like chucking a $3000+ TV in 3 years. So I was now looking for an interim solution. This was perfect. At less than $1500 shipped I won't feel too bad about not keeping it for a long time.
With that said I may end up keeping this monitor for a long time because I am extremely impressed with it. Right out of the box the picture was very good. And that was with an S-Video input coming from my non-HD DirecTV receiver. DVDs via a component connection are exceptional. I've read reviews that state EDTVs often times produce a better looking picture than HDTV when fed non-HD signals. I think there is something to that and since I don't currently have HD content available to me that was one of the deciding factors in not going with the HD version. I think the one time I might wish for the HD model is if I used the PC input. Also, this set didn't come with any useless features. I did need to purchase a stand separately ($150) because I wasn't going to mount it on the wall, which by the way would have been even more expensive.
Bottom line, I would highly recommend this monitor but keep in mind, it is just a monitor. No speakers, no tuner, no CableCard, and no stand.
