"Deep Blacks and Excellent SD" on by gmallen

Pros: Clear and crisp HD with great depth and color accuracy. All input presets adjustable. All automatic features defeatable. Extracts every bit of detail present in SD programs. Great connectivity.

Cons: No VGA input. Remote not back-lit. Frame is very shiny. Merciless on poor sources.

Summary: Bought this TV in July 2008. Showroom floor viewing (Sears) and the glowing review in Consumer Reports convinced me.
Set up was simple, yet complete including attaching an OTA antenna for local HD programming.
The HD output from DirecTv (from their new MPEG-4 feeds) looks as good as the source. DVDs with first quality transfers popped off the screen with almost instant 3:2 pull-down for film sources. OTA broadcast material delivered detailed sports programming with no detectable motion artifacts.
The revelation, though, was in SD viewing. Good sources really looked good, much better than on the Sony CRT this set replaced.
In summary, this TV gives me more than I expected in picture quality. Note that as delivered the Panasonic had a so-called "3D" filter.

"best value for the money" on by jwolfson89

Pros: superb picture, adequate motion, true to life colors (I don't see what you guys are talking about)

    Cons: 120hz would be ideal

Summary: while samsung sony and sharp are leading the pack Panasonic is producing quality tv's. As an electronics salesman, I get a lot of customers who want to buy a low-end 40" model because they want to save money. That's when I show them this model. They're losing 3 inches of screen, but they're gaining a TV that isn't going to crap out on them in the first 3-5 years or give them mediocre picture. The SD slot is a great added feature, and the 1080p is perfect for blueray. In the end you're saving money, saving power consumption, and gaining quality picture and dependability.

"no better HD pic" on by johncat

Pros: beautiful HD pic of any LCD tv I've ever seen. All my cable is in HD and is always a perfect picture.

    Cons: none that i've found

Summary: This tv was $1200 when it first came out. Thats what I paid, and I still love it.If you want a 37 inch, you cant lose with this TV. I've had it for over a year and never regretted buying it once.......JOHN

"AWESOME "HD" PERFORMANCE" on by hifimiami

Pros: PRO: Excellent performance in HD material DirecTv HD & Blue Ray.
Remote & Menu easy to operate very well organized
Recommend to turn color down about 5 clicks, backlight 75, contrast 85

    Cons: Red too intense
    Poor picture with 480i
External jack pack & SD card slot located on side panel it is more convenient in front behind a door.

Summary: Great value for the performance (1080P) easy setup and operation highly recommend.
After you view HD programs on this set you will not want to watch SD/480i anyway
