"Excellent Picture with great blacks" on by laxeagle

Pros: Accurate primary colors, deep blacks, great contrast.

    Cons: None so far

Summary: I purchased this TV recently and I am extremely happy. I had purchased a Samsung A650 and was happy with the TV until after 2 weeks of ownership the TV developed awful clouding and flashlights. I opted for the plasma to avoid this issue and get better picture quality and I couldn't be happier with this purchase. The G10 has excellent color accuracy and picture quality. The blacks are deep and dark and the colors are crisp. THX is nice, a little dim and feels sort of washed out but with some tweaking on the custom setting I have found a great balance. I saw one in Best Buy and it looks good but not great due to poor lighting and video feed. I got this TV in my home and it looks amazing. I know a couple people with Pioneers and I feel this TV gives them a run for their money.

"Great darkish picture." on by JSMSKS

    Pros: Good price

Cons: Dark picture with beautiful colors, or normal brightness and compromised picture.

Summary: I own a TC-P42G10 in a room with limited light with only one window. With bright shows like live football or basketball the picture can be great with wonderful natural colors. However with many shows including blu ray movies the picture is too dark. THX offers the best color accuracy but the picture is to dark. Not terrible but darkish for my taste. Increasing the contrast or brightness brings saturation and other problems. Std normal mode and std vivid mode or both a joke and totally unwatchable. Why aren't the these useable when set to Panasonics std settings? I suspect a design flaw that would not be solved even with a professional calibration. Note that CNET lowered the brightness of the comparison sets AND then the pana did well, so it is a good tv IF you prefer a dark picture. It is still a great basement or nightime TV but it needs to offer a brighter picture without saturating. I am always adjusting the color to get something acceptable.

"No regrets -- great great set" on by macurchin

Pros: Superb picture, deep blacks, nice sound, connectivity. Also, really solid standard-def DVD playback (for those of us who haven't collected too many blu-rays yet).

Cons: I wish there was a film-compatible refresh rate. But your eye would have to be really well trained to notice.

Summary: I couldn't be happier. I bought the 42" model and the picture is amazing. I have two friends with 2009 42 and 46 inch LCD displays and this plasma really beats them out, especially with its deep blacks.

"No More VieraCast Upgrades for this Model!" on by mikesn5va

Pros: Great picture; sound is average!

Cons: No more VieraCast upgrades for the G10 and G15 models.

Summary: Panasonic has failed 2008 and 2009 model owners by refusing to add Netflix, FoxSports and other promised upgrades to their VieraCast lineups. Only the 2010 and newer models will have these. So much for promises.
