"Superior picture, great features.. love this tv"5.0 starson by eagle072352
Pros: Plasma gives you the best picture, the most life like images, and Panasonic has hit a home run with this set. THX pictures shows the movie like the director wanted you to see it, huge feature set, pc interface,
Cons: You would be hard pressed to find anything negative, .. i fyou were really looking you might say the screen is a bit reflective, and the sound can be a bit tinny
Summary: I. like many of you, have spent countless hours standing in front of the various television displays at too many electronic stores to mention. I have debated back and forth LCD, Plasma, DLP and had made up my mind several times for each one. I knew in my heart I would get a Sony, Toshiba, Sharp, etc. I read dozens of expert reviews both on the technology and on the brand. Size of the television also got thrown into the mix. But my job today is to make this easy for you. My job today is to have you go in to your local store and just buy a television with no regret, worry, or buyers remorse.
Now to understand where I was, I had a list of the TV must haves, it had to have a least 3 HDMI ports, several composite, and even an S video. It had to have a PC interface as well. I was not going to spend any more than $1,000. And it was going to be 46? or larger and I had decided 50 ? for me was ideal. It had to have a great picture as well?of course.
It was one of the last articles I read and also consequently a radio show that just happened to be on during my drive to the store. I feel that I was being guided by the technology God. The last article I read was on the Panasonic plasmas, and the reviewer on CNet site said, and I paraphrase? The Panasonic was not the best plasma, that was brand XXX, but since it was not made any more, the Panasonic was taking it?s place. I read a couple of customer reviews, and it was solidifying nicely, and the guy on the radio, says, when you get above 36 inch in an LCD the viewing angle is getting very tight, and when you get to larger sets even sitting in front of one, the angle is such that there is color distortion to the sides. Hmmm.. But not on a plasma..my decision was getting easier.
OK .. First off ..getting a big set.. Then you do want a plasma.. Huh? you say.. Those pretty LCD are so bright.. Yes and so is a search light but you don?t need one in your living room. The reason you see so many people buying LCD?s is they look so much better next to a plasma in the show room.. Bright has to better yes.. NO! .. When you get it into your living room you don?t need the search light, you are looking for a window into what the director is trying to share with you, what is being broadcast, or shared on DVD. You Don?t want your tv making those decisions for you.
What is the answer.. (Finally he gets to it.. ) The Panasonic 50? .. you should be able to find it under $1000.00 and it is worth ever penny. Model number is TCP50G15 and you can stop looking. The picture is phenomenal, it has a preset called THX that sets it professionally to meet Lucas of Star Wars fame, standards, honestly, that?s it, your done. It looks as if you are there with the actors, on the news set, in the woods.. every time I look at it, I smile. And you will too.
Now for the extras, I can put in the SD disc from my camera and see the pictures I have taken, they look fantastic, slide show or pick images. Both my Cannon and my wife?s Sony work. I hooked up my laptop and in seconds I was watching the web on screen. We hit Hulu and the picture was nice, limited by Hulu not the TV. Watched CNN live, in short anything you see on your PC, is on the big screen. It has a game mode, have not hooked up a gaming system yet, but looking forward to that maybe this Christmas. The set offers a direct link to the internet, with content pre-selected, but there are many slots for future additions, you can see they are getting ready for direct distribution of media. Currently you can access your Picassa account , financial info, and YouTube, but there is more coming.
If you happen to have Panasonic components, like home theater and such.. It interfaces nicely with extra level of control. When I look into a new receiver, it will be a Panasonic to take advantage of that nice aspect.
But it?s the picture stupid.. It is by far the best you have ever seen. It is so real and lifelike you will not believe you are watching your TV. HD signal of course, and Blue ray to get the best DVD experience.. But forget about reading another article.. One more review.. Considering LCD..you want PLASMA.. Just go out and buy this set. You not going to find a better one? ever.. And for Pete?s sake.. Please do not even begin to think the picture you are seeing in the store is even close to what you are going to be seeing at home.. I came close to making that mistake.. But the guy in the store.. Said .. ?Look.. You came in the store knowing what you wanted.. I make more selling you a more expensive set.. But your not going to get a better one than this? I was right, he was right.. And now you can walk into the store and walk out smiling. And no more standing around the tv sets at your local electronics store? unless you just want to brag. That can be fun too.
Good luck.. Let us know in your review if you found any thing that I said that was not true.
