Pros Easy to set up
Nice picture quality on certain HD cable channels for 6 months
Cons Terrible customer service
Picture quality is bad after 6 months
Bars on the side of the picture due to "burn-in"
Summary Extremely disappointed with the picture quality after 6 months. The TV has bars on the side of the picture which appears to be "burn-in" according to Panasonic customer service. The funny thing is that I never watch TV in 4:3 ratio (only 16:9) and I put the standard channels in expanded format so I never have bars on the side except for limited commercials. When watching TV you can see bars on the sides of the picture which are brighter than the picture in the middle of the TV. It is very prevalent when watching shows with a lot of whites (like a hockey game) and is very frustrating to watch especially when you know it exists. I called Panasonic about the problem and they sent a service technician who said that the bars should not happen especially on a 6 month old TV and that the TV was faulty. He requested a new TV panel for me but Panasonic has rejected the request because they do not provide the warranty on "burn-in". I explained to them that this cannot be burn-in because I have never watched TV with the bars on the side and Panasonic still will not replace the TV. This is extremely upsetting and unacceptable and I will never buy or recommend a Panasonic to anyone. This has also happened to a friend who owns a Panasonic plasma TV.
Pros Beautiful natural looking picture. Great black levels even in daylight. No noticeable glare on the screen in a bright room.
Cons The menu seems a little clumsy, but I think all tv menus are pretty bad.
Pros Black Levels, THX Mode, Video adjustment options, power consumption, Anti Glare screen.
Cons Black shinny bezel.
Summary I bought the 54" g20 at Costco for $999 !! It's substituting a 5 year old 42" Panasonic that weights 20 pounds more and draws twice the amount of current. Power draw is this Panasonic sets is excellent. At normal viewing brightness is roughly 225 to 300 watts (measured with a Kill-a-watt ). Screen reflection is minimal and compares with an LCD set. Unfortunately, the shinny bezel shows more reflection than the screen. I don't know why all manufacturers use these shinny parts in a TV screen !! Anyway, this TV is awesome. The picture is fantastic and black levels can not be compared with any LCD TV. The THX mode is excellent for watching BD movies and concerts and although the TV has lots of adjustments for video levels, the preset modes are more than adequate for most environments. I have Dish Network which has excellent HD quality channels and now find myself recording and watching lots of shows just to watch the amazing picture !!! 100% recommended. No better deal out there. Period.
Pros Nice picture
Cons TV quickly broke and service is terrible
Summary Nice TV until it quickly broke. Not a huge problem but now it's 2.5 MONTHS LATER with hours on hold, multiple house calls, and frustrating conversations with "customer service" and still nothing. I would suggest you look elsewhere for a TV unless you are ready for a serious headache and no actual working TV. P.S.- after reading a couple recent reviews I noticed a very similar experience from a couple of other posters.
Pros great picture quality, top of its class
Cons no 24p, internet is lacking
Summary This is a great television, there is no other tv in the under $2,000 dollar price range that even comes close to it. Not LED or LCD or any other plasma Panasonic did a very good job of being head of its class
