"Run away from Panasonic."0.5 starson by roy3636
Pros: Was happy for 14 months
Cons: Panasonic's customer service is anything but service. Gives the run around and transfer to different people and tells that someone with authority will call back. It's been over 3 months and still can't get anybody to call back.
Summary: I purchased the Samsung 7000 series LED/LCD 55" 3d bundle (Television, 3d Blu-ray player, 3D starter pack which included all 4 Shrek DVD's and 2 pair of glasses and internet adapter) which was regularly priced separately for $4,200, however, I got it at BestBuy the day before christmas for $1,999.
I had to buy a new television as my Panasonic (Crapasonic) 50" Plasma television had the "7 blinking lights of death". I could not be happier with my purchase as the color is far superior to anything I've ever owned including the Panasonic Plasma. I watched "It's a wonderful life" on Blu-ray on both television sets and was absolutely amazed by the Samsung. . The colorized version looks like a movie just filmed. Next we put in "the Wizard of Oz", again amazing. I watched the BCS bowl game on ESPN 3D and was speechless. I recorded it on my DVR and now use that to show everyone what this television can do. I get the same reaction, from male and female, who watch it, that they want to get this television and it's the best picture by far ever seen.
I would recommend the Samsung television to everyone and no matter what not to buy a Panasonic. I only bought the Panasonic because the reviews on C/Net was so good and highly recommended. I researched televisions for two months before buying and then shortly after 1 year (15 months, 3 months out of warranty) it blew up and Panasonic gave me a number of a repairman about 45 miles away from me and said take it to them and they'll may cover the cost of repair if it's a manufacture defect. I called the repair man and he wouldn't even look at it unless i give him $200.00 as he said Crapasonic "was blowing smoke up my ***" (his words) that he has had several and they haven't covered any of them that the only manufacture defect they would cover is if there was a recall. He said that the repair is one of three motherboards which would cost $500.00 to $600.00 to fix. I've researched it and it appears that this is a defect affecting every make and model Panasonic television manufactured in 2009. (Don't know about any after that as i didn't look it up). Additionally Panasonic managers won't return my calls or e-mails.
Please, before buying a Panasonic, research the "blinking lights of death" on the internet and see if it is affecting that set as Panasonic feels that one should be satisfied with a television as long as it last longer than a year even though it's advertised at having a 10,000 half-life. At the very least, please buy an extended warranty so what happened to me and the thousands, yes thousands, of complaints that I have personally found and documented doesn't happen to you.
