"Love my Panny" on by gt6974a

Pros: Great Picture, Great Blacks, Looks greate

Cons: Reflect sunlight (that's expected), component input sluggish (might be comcast)

Summary: Had it for 3 months now, bought off of Amazon. Learned alot from AVS forums.

Picture was sluggish at first but once I switched from component to HDMI, that cleared it up.

Great for Blue Ray, just buy your movies online, it's expensive.

My PS3 games look amazing, huge difference in those, just between component and HDMI connection from the PS3 to TV. Get category 2 cables online. Don't buy Monster crap from Best Buy.

I bought the S1 over the G10 only b/c I didn't feel the need for the extra features of G10. I also was coming from a 1st Generation 720p Westinghouse, 32" that I moved to the bedroom.

I wanted the deep blacks, especially after comparing to my LCD.

How I know I made the right decision, my non-technical, don't care about picture that much wife, now wants that 32" LCD replaced in the bedroom.

Reflects sunlight which is expected, but I don't get home until late most of the time anyway and knew that.

There's plenty of great TV's, LCD and Plasma, but I knew I wanted the best picture for movies and games and this was it for me.

    Hope the review helped.

    "No Regretts" on by ozzie33

Pros: Price, Size-54", Deep Blacks and good color

    Cons: None for me

Summary: I love this TV. I don't understand why someone would complain about the color of this set unless they bought it sight unseen. I played with this set at Sam's for a while and to MY EYES it looked great. Sure there aren't a lot of adjustments but I have to say it isn't a big deal. I have a Pioneer Kuro 5010 and really don't use many of the vast amount of adjustments on that TV. The blacks on the Panasonic compare with the blacks on my Pioneer. The color, again to me is not that far off from the Pioneer, yes you can tell if they were side by side but there is about a $1500 price difference. I do have the Panasonic hooked up to a Denon 3310 which I'm sure helps some with the picture, there are a few adjustments for picture on the Denon but I returned them to the presets after playing with them. I do have to qualifiy that I paid well under $1000 on Sam's Auction for this TV and well over $1500 for the Kuro so to be able to buy two Panasonics to one Pioneer has a lot to do with my happiness with the TV. Don't get caught up in all the reviews of how good someone says this or that is, go take a look and if it looks good to you, get it. I have paid hundreds more for electronics that have all the whistles and bells and in the end really don't use any of them and can't tell the difference. I use the TV to watch TV and play BD movies and an occasional pay per view, no gaming or watching slides but if I did it wouldn't matter to me if the pictures were random, but again thats me.

"Solid Product: Great picture and clarity" on by bungi43

Pros: I purchsed the 65S1 about 3 months ago. Bought it open box from HH Gregg. I had picked up the 58 inch and really loved it, so I returned it for the bigger TV. DirecTV looks solid on it, HD channels all look great.

Cons: None that have anything to do with the TV itself.

Summary: Even after reading the "black color" update by CNET, I knew this was the TV I wanted to purchase. I have an older model Viera 42 inch Plasma that is now about 5 years old and it still produces a better picture than a lot of TV's I've seen today. This 65 inch really is spectacular. This was my first venture into the 1080p world as I believe that most people don't notice the difference (especially at the smaller size). At 65 inch there wasn't an option. After a discount sheet I had I purchsed this TV for about 1400. It is a bit on the heavy side, but that is to be expected from this TV.

Out of the box the TV does need adjustments, but that's normal with any TV. I did some searching online for some things and ultimately chose to play around with it for my preferences. PS3, Xbox 360 and my Panasonic Blu Ray all look wonderful. Upconversion looks good too: Regular DVD's look great. Even my Wii looks pretty good on a TV of this size.

Standard def is okay, nothing fancy, but I've yet to see a TV of this size where the standard definition looks great (hence the reason I didn't dock the TV under the Cons section). 3 HDMI inputs are plenty (I have a receiver with 6) and the one on the side of the TV is great for quick hook ups. The remote is relatively friendly, but I'm used to a Panasonic remote anyways.

If you are looking for a large TV, the "S" series is very affordable and very clear. I would recommend this TV (or any from this series) to anyone.

Burn In: A lot of people are leary of this: Most TV's today that are plasma have anti image retention tools that you can use to keep this from happening. I play a lot of video games that will have a "permanent" image on the screen during play. From time to time I'll have slight image retention on the screen, but after 10-15 minutes of watching something else it clears right up. So don't let that fool you. Comparing this to an LCD of similar size, it's not even close. No blurry motion on sports like you'll get with a LCD TV.

Right now I give it a 4.5. I don't give it a 5 as I've only had it 3 months and I want to see how well it will continue to perform.

"What a great TV..." on by TKMcGuinn

Pros: Picture is amazing out of the box, especially considering this is one of the 'lower-end' plasma tv's.

Cons: The glare from sunlight through open windows is all I can come up with - but I knew about that before I even purchased the TV and purchased curtains for the living room window for daytime viewing.

Summary: This is my first HDTV so I'm definitely not an expert or a videophile, and I have to admit that some of the reviews concerning color accuracy had me a bit worried before - but now I can't even see what those reviews are talking about. This TV has an amazing picture and I don't notice any greenish tint even while watching football. Standard def looks OK (big upgrade over my old tube tv), although mostly I'm watching high def content which looks great.

"You can't get more real estate & quality for the dollar" on by mrrab9asp

Pros: Deep blacks, crisp image, true color out of the box, no need to adjust the color, no neon green color as you might expect when watching football, easy to use remote, excellent sound quality if you adjust the bass and treble to the high end.

Cons: besides the PC input, none come to mind. Not quite sure why other reviews are complaining about the color. Color is perfect to me and no green features around the outlines of people like one reviewer said.

Summary: For an entry level HDTV you can't go wrong with this plasma from Panasonic. Deep blacks, crisp image, true out of the box color and no bright over powering colors make this an excellent TV. Price I paid was $1150 on the day after Christmas.
