"Terrific Plasma"
Pros: Great Picture, Exceptional hidden speakers
Cons: Yet to find any, and hope it stays that way!
Summary: Note: Amazon?s specs are wrong. I found this out because after all my research I had settled on the TH-42PX60U and through a connection at Panasonic ordered off their store for $1,319. On calling to request it by Christmas I found out they were backordered for over a month, and was told they could upgrade me to the 600U for only an extra $60. After agreeing I went into a panic attack on seeing the disparate specs, but the true stats are on the Panasonic web page. The specs are exactly the same as the 60U except for a few enhancements. You can check them out yourself on the website, but the two key ones were that this TV has 4 speakers built in to the frame and also has a connection to allow you to connect your computer and use the screen as a monitor. I?ll probably never use the second feature as a desktop screen is exactly the type of static image that could cause burn-in, but the speakers sound terrific using my HDMI cable connection to my TWC DVR. In addition I?m in a one bedroom apartment with thin floors so since I can?t get a surround sound system I?m happy to have superbly designed invisible speakers playing good sound as part of the whole package.
A couple of other things that might be helpful: I ordered HDMI cables from a ghetto online store, 2 for $16 from monoprice.com and they seem to work superbly. Maybe the $100 monster cables might be imperceptibly better, but I?m more than happy with my choice (Note: Check with your cable settings if you connect using HDMI, because it took me 2 hours and a customer service call to find out there are separate HDMI sound settings). Also I bought the Sanus VMAA18 wall mount because I wanted the flexibility to pull my TV out and adjust it in multiple directions, and so far it seems to work like a charm.
Bottom line is I?ve only had the TV for 5 days but I?m thoroughly delighted with my choice, and the difference between watching a regular movie on HBO and one on HD HBO is stunning. A few friends I?ve had over can?t get over how real the sporting events look, and there are only going to be more HD channels as time goes by. If you?re going flat screen for the first time like I did, I can?t recommend this TV enough!

I recently purchased this plasma. While the picture is great, I am having about a 3 second delay when I switch channels (the HDMI 1 flashes in the upper left hand corner). My Sony LCD doesn't take this long. Is this common for this tv? Also, the first time I used the tv after a few hours use I lost the picture. The HDMI just kept flashing. Could there be a problem with my tv's HDMI 1?
