"Spectacular HD picture" on by rickallen81
Pros: HD quality, SD quality, deep blacks
Cons: easy to erase preferences, no 3rd HDMI
Summary: Right out of the box, this TV had the best picture of any HDTV I have been able to test to date. It's blacks are deep and inky, it's color is clear, and the picture is spot on beautiful. After some minor adjustments to color temp, brightness, and contrast, I had a near perfect HD picture. Everything in HD looks more lifelike and 3 dimensional, just much better than the two Samsungs I had previous to this.
CNET is right, however, about the screen being too small to exhibit all benefits of 1080p. Although, 1080p does look great on my Toshiba HD-DVD player. What looks even better for all of your regular movies is my Oppo DV-980H upconverting DVD player. If you have a great HDTV, this does mouch better upconversion than the Toshiba can do to regular DVD's.
The lack of a 3rd HDMI only became a nuisance once I added a 3rd HDMI device. A decent HDMI switcher can alleviate that and cost much less than buying a TV that has 3 HDMI's and Panasonic's amazing picture. (The PZ750U series has 3 of them, but no 42 inch model as yet.)
Overall, you cannot go wrong with this TV. Everything simply looks better. Even standard def looks HD-ish. Buy it and don't look back. -
"I love this TV" on by gdepaul
Pros: Picture and sound - top notch.
Cons: None - really
Summary: This plasma is awesome, really. Incredible picture, amazing sound, tons of inputs. When I turned it on the first time, I showed Madagascar in High-Def to my wife. She couldn't care less about this stuff and she was blown away. Xbox and PS3 games are incredible. The speakers on the sides don't look like much, but they are all the sound that I need. If you're looking for a 42'' plasma, I'll save you a lot of researching time... buy this one.

"Super-quality full hi-def Panasonic plasma" on by iouvy74
Pros: Excellent image quality. Beautiful design. Nice black finish
Cons: Expensive. Only 2 HDMI inputs. No DVI port. No-detail user manual
Summary: I bought this unit at BestBuy at $2,200 with 3 year no-interest finance, so it's a good investment despite the high price tag. Free shipping too. Why not, right?
The image quality is super. This is the main reason as to why I bought it. I watched Happy Feet at BestBuy on the 50" version, and I just decided to own one.
Sound is just adequate. It should have been better for the price. I wish the bass were deeper.
Connecting this plasma to my PC was a mess. I took me more than 2 hours to configure the resolution so that I could view Windows on this plasma via my PC's DVI port. Based on the editor's review, I thought I would have luck to connect it via DVI, but I didn't have any luck at all. The maximum resolution that I could actually view was 1280x720, not the full resolution of the plasma itself. I think it might be my graphic card though.
I wonder if this unit takes advantage of HDMI 1.3. I read thoroughly the manual, but it doesn't mention the version of HDMI firmware. Anyone has any thought on this? -
"Excellent picture but with poor reliability" on by jpmanlapaz
Pros: The pictures on hd were excellent.
Cons: TV died on me after 5 months.
Summary: I've always been a biased Panasonic consumer d/t their reliability but this TV has made me think twice about this. I had it only for 5 months before the tv just would not work anymore even with repeated resetting. Don't be too impressed with Plasma Concierge which is Panasonic's support service. My TV broke down in December and it's now January and it still has not been serviced.

"Broken after 3 months" on by seatri
Pros: Good picture
Cons: Does not work
Summary: Well.... 3 months of watching HD football is finally at an end. I guess there is a problem with panasonics detecting grounds. Anyway, its a know issue (at least on chat boards) but panasonic head turned their head on the issue. I would recommend another brand.
