CNET Editors' Take

CNET did not review the Panasonic TH-42PZ800U, but we did review a larger model in the series.

Review:

Although CNET did not review the 42-inch Panasonic TH-42PZ800U, we did review the 50-inch Panasonic TH-50PZ800U. Judging from their specification sheets, the two Panasonic plasma HDTVs are essentially identical but for screen size, so we expect the review of the 50-incher to give a good indication of how the 42-inch model will perform. For more information, refer to the full review of the Panasonic TH-50PZ800U.

"Great Picture - Built in speakers are unusable" By rfhou

Pros: Great Picture, connections and looks.

Cons: Low frequency / Bass via the built in speakers causes the entire back of the television to vibrate.

Summary: I would only buy this tv if do not plan on using the built in speakers. I had to return mine to Crutchfield.

"Good picture but terrible Audio speakers. Bad design." By pman6

Pros: Excellent Picture quality, Great video i/o's

Cons: Lousy Audio quality.Cabinet vibrates like crazy whenever you have low frequency sound. The whole sub-woofer placement and design is flawed and Panasonic is not doing much about it. Buyers please be aware!!! Check the internet forums.

Summary: Would not buy it unless Panasonic Acknowledges and fixes the vibration issue.
