"Great plasma tv" on by drbriancc

    Pros: Amazing color accuracy,

    Cons: Not 1080P capable

Summary: I did extensive research for a 55" to 60" tv, looking at all types (SXRD, LCD, and plasma)Outside of the 50" Pioneer Elite 1080P plasma (smaller than my needs and far more expensive), which I consider the best picture of any tv on the market today, the Panasonic TH-58PX600U is the second best tv I've seen. When calibrated to ISF specs (I found the settings online), the picture is fantastic - totally natural, not overexaggerated colors and brightness as these tvs are often set up in the store or right out of the box. Plasmas have a more "live" look, more punch to their image than DLP or even the quite good SXRD's. I purchased mine from B&H photo, and their service was great. It has been a very reliable and trusted store for years. The lack of 1080P capability is minor, the image is so good it gets to the point of splitting hairs at this point. And the only 1080P content is BluRay or HDDVD discs, as there are no plans for tv broadcasts in sight. I can't imagine anyone finding fault with this set when set up properly.

"Awesome TV, Great picture, Great Price" on by tmar23

    Pros: Nice, bright picture

Cons: None, though an option for an all black frame would be nice

Summary: This tv is simply awesome. Watching sports in HD is incredible. I don't think I could ever go back to regular tv after this. I was a little hesitant in purchasing this tv (I didn't recognize Panasonic as a Top-Tier brand in TV's), but after doing the research I quickly realized that Panasonic is one of the leaders in Plasma tv's. Do not hesitate to buy this tv, you won't be disappointed.

"Bang for the buck!" on by david052874

Pros: the colors are bright, noticeably bigger than 50inches, clarity, price is lower than anything else.

Cons: I wish the frame was all black.

Summary: I needed a TV that would be bigger than the standard 50 inchers you see everywhere. For the price, there is nothing that can compare to this. the Samsung 63 inch is not nearly as bright and colorful and the 55 Hitachi doesnt deliver the same picture as this. I seriously thought this had the best picture that was only rivalled by a Pioneer which costed thousands more. If your budget is around $5000, then this is the TV to have. It is not 1080p, but within the next 5 years or so, hardly anything will be 1080p and then in 5 years, I will be ready to get a newer generation TV that should be even better.

Go down to a Magnolia and do a side-by-side comparison with all the other TV's....this one will come out on top. It is kind of unique because there are really no other 58 inch TV's. There are 60-63 inch plasmas, but after looking at the picture and price tag, there is really no choice unless you just won the lottery and have $10000 to spend on a TV.

It would have been nice if Panasonic made the frame all black, because I think the Samsungs look sleak with that as do other models. But once the TV is turned "on", who cares.

I know Pioneer is coming out with a new plasma that is 60inches or so that is going to be able to compete with this one as far as peformance, so you may want to check it out (should be out in a month or 2). But I also heard it is going to cost $1-2k more.

I think the Pioneers and Pannys are the 2 best as far as picture quality. The samsung 50 inch looks very nice too, but the 63 (last years model) is nothing compared to this 58 Panny.

"This Television is awesome!" on by sabbaticalguy

Pros: Great picture, even on non HDTV channels

    Cons: No HDMI output

Summary: I looked at HDTV's for over a year before I finally made a purchase. Each time I WANTED to buy a DLP because of the price differential. However, every time I stood in front of the televisions at BestBuy or Costco, I always came back to the same conclusion; the plasma models consistently showed better, especially if you view slightly off-center.

I have not been disappointed at all. The quality of the picture is absolutely amazing, especially once you use the HDMI cable as the source input. In the process of purchasing a new television, I also refreshed my whole entertainment center and added an HDMI compliant A/V receiver. It is just AMAZING the difference in the experience.

One interesting thing I found was that if I took my current Comcast cable directly to the television(bypassing the old cable box), then the television will tune all channels it finds both lowdef and highdef. Since I don't currently purchase any premium channels like HBO, this effectively allows me to gain all non premium high def channels without an increased monthly service fee.

The channel guide provided on the television is heads and shoulders above the clunky (and slow) interface provided by Comcast.

The only slight annoyance is that there is no HDMI OUT feed. HDMI out would be a useful way to get the audio that I am tuning from the TV back to the receiver.

I was thinking about using the digital audio output, but am now finding that my new Vista PC and Xbox are working in concert to serve up all of my TV content seamlessly. It is an awesome experience.

I have no reservations or concerns about the quality or functionality of the television. I was on the fence for quite a long time, but I can honestly say the television has met or exceeded every expectation.

    Good luck with your purchase!

"Awsome picture, huge screen, best bang for your buck" on by rpanizo

Pros: Great picture, color accuracy, sound, hd/dvd/sd picture, unbeatable price

    Cons: heavy, not 1080p

Summary: This bad boy is now being sold for only $3.3k, so buy it while it lasts! For a t.v. of this size, you cannot go wrong with this set even if you paid full retail ($5.4k). The picture is amazing, the sound is very good (for built in speakers), connectivity is great, and the GUI (while not the best) is easily navigable. I was suprised by how good Standard Definition images looked on this set and blown away by the HD image. If your going to sit closer than 10 feet (not recommended) you may be able to make out individual pixels so you might consider jumping to 1080p rez, but rest assured the replacement model coming out soon will have 1080p resolution (expected it retail for $5.3k). That being said, 1080p is usually a luxury and not a necessity since it's hard to make out at optimal viewing distances.
