"Extensive testing proves this THE BEST deal out there!"
Pros: Beautiful picture; easy interface menu; more than sufficient hookups; VieraCast.
Cons: Anti-glare screen is good but not perfect; Pana needs more internet partners for VieraCast; VieraCast's Picasa slide show should utilize entire screen (eg. Mac), so as to minimize risk of burn-in -- give user some programability options here.
Summary: I shopped around extensively for a new television to compliment the new FiOS service to the home (well, really it was a "chicken versus egg" scenario). Having intimate knowledge of two Japanese manufacturer's (read: "in the industry") and excellent second-hand knowledge of several others, this new product from Panasonic is hands-down the best value for my dollar. Also, having an eye for picture comparison and for retail presentation, I know what to look for and how to assess, and am confident that the likes of Toshiba and Sony simply cannot compete. True, you can spend a lot more on another set, such as Pioneer, but would end up with only minor improvements. Pana engineers have worked hard to perfect the picture and the menus, while keeping the price to what I would consider quite reasonable for what you get. VieraCast is a no-brainer, which makes me wonder why more manufacturers have not introduced similar service features. Like a car with a sunroof, I will never buy another television without it (or similar service). I have had fun setting up this set with external devices (home theater BlueRay DVD system, Mac, Wii, and of course FiOS), and am extremely pleased with the product. The FiOS, while pretty good on certain HD content, I suppose is the weakest link in this system.
