"Surprised by how much I like this TV!"
Pros: Great value, excellent picture, nice design
Cons: Only one HDMI port
Summary: I spent a lot of time doing research on LCD and plasma TVs, and finally decided on the Sony XBR2. Only problem was... I couldn't seem to pull the trigger to spend that much cash, especially while watching the price slide during those months of research and knowing that it would only continue to do so. I decided to get a "temporary TV" - one that I could use in my bedroom later but use as my primary TV now - while waiting for the price on that Sony to continue to fall.
This was an open box special at my local electronics store. It was a good size (amazing how these TVs seem bigger once you get them home than they did in the store), plus it was one of the most affordable TVs on the floor - a fraction of the cost of the Sony. I brought it home prepared to be "okay" with it... but I have been surprised that I am more than okay with it - I really like it. I was worried about how the standard def channels would look, but on many channels that don't even advertise themselves as being high def the picture is superb. Even though our room gets a fair amount of ambiant light glare doesn't seem to be a problem. The connections are very accessible, the menu is easy to navigate with a decent variety of settings. Plus, it's a good looking TV - even when it's not on.
I have absolutely no regrets for passing on the Sony (for now). The "extra" cash we saved easily paid for surround sound and a TV console - and we're still out less than what we would have spent otherwise.
For the budget-minded I think it would be very hard to beat this TV.
