"9.5 Best Picture Out Period! I'm in love with my Pioneer Kuro PRO-110FD...but don't tell my wife!" on by laice06
Pros: HD Picture is magnificent. Black level is superb.
Cons: Make sure you pay the additional $500 to calibrate this Plasma
Summary: I'm rating it a 9.5 I had been waiting 3 years to take the plunge into buying an HD TV. I Researched LCD vs Plasma and still was waiting because the standards kept changing daily. Finally I found a product that measures up to the hype. The Kuro Pio Pro-110FD is amazing on the 1080P Blu-ray movies. When watching movies my friends repeatedly say it looks like the picture is coming into your lap jumping out the tv it's so real. Playing Playstation 3 on it is prestine and envelops you into whatever game you happen to be playing at 1080p. I keep the gaming to only 1 hour at a time on this tv. I do most of my gaming on my LCD computer screen. There is a built in screen saver to ward off burn in which isn't to much of an issue with todays newer higher quality plasmas. The HD channels are breathtaking especially the Discovery Channel HD and the NFL Sunday Ticket HD channels. That was another reason I waited because up until now when looking at the LCDs like the Sony XBR5 I would still notice pixelation tails when watching fast movement in sports. Since I watch alot of sports this was unacceptable but the processor in this Kuro PRO-110FD delivers the goods with no pixelation. I'm a happy camper. Look around there are good deals on this plasma especially in the L.A. area for low 4Ks with manufacturer's warranty. Don't invest in this higher level plasma unless you plan on getting it calibrated. The preprogrammed settings that come with the PRO-110FD don't do the tv justice. You need the calibration to bring out the maximum protential plus it also helps during the breakend period which is about 6 months according to the calibration tech. Plan on stretching out your picture for the first 3 months to properly allow all the pixels to breakin. There is a anti reflective coating in the glass and a light sensitive sensor built into this plasma. Before you calibrate this tv you should turn off this auto light sensor and leave it off permanently after the calibration. Sound is average if you plan on using the attached speakers but if you're going to spend this kind of money you should at least have a good quality A/V receiver like a Denon or Pioneer with 5 to 7 speakers and a subwoofer attached. Make sure you invest in some quality HDMI cables like Audioquest (HDMI-3) it does make a difference on the picture. I hope this review was somewhat helpful. But the best thing to do is to go into your local Magnolia Audio or Ken Cranes or wherever to see it in person but make sure you put the settings in pure mode in the store and that's how good the tv looks without any settings adjusted and know after calibration if improves in the picture coloration 20 times. Enjoy I know I will be.

"Received a dud" on by gl4
Pros: Excellent blacks
Cons: Product broken w/in 10 hours of viewing
Summary: I received my 110fd last week. After watching for fewer than 10 hours the picture went completely blank and the tv is done. This is not the first time I've purchased a pioneer product w/ a major and permanently disabling defect. In addition, I have spoken to at least one other Pioneer customer who had a similar problem. It is disappointing that a company that focuses so much on picture quality cannot put equal effort into minimizing duds and defects.

"Pioneer PRO-110FD" on by mccleem
Pros: Black levels, colors, picture quailty, everything. Ok, maybe not sound, but who cares. When you spend 6K for a TV, you're not paying for sound.
Cons: None compared to any flat screen to date.
Summary: WOW! The Bench Mark that all other TV's aspire to be. Simple put, the very best there is right now, bar none. As usual, Pioneer is setting the standard.
I'm giving this 10 not because it's perfect. It gets a 10 because it is better than anything out here at the moment, by far, inculding CRT Direct View (tube) TV.
If you got the scratch, this is the one to buy. -
"Best TV on the market. Period." on by tv99
Pros: Blacks are unparalled, making the picture simply beautiful; even when it's OFF the tv is gorgeous.
Cons: Price, price and price. ,
Summary: Yeah, it's gonna cost you. But once you commit to this beauty, you will NOT be disappointed. Bought ours 6 months ago (you should be able to find it for low $4k) and still exclaim at least once a week how incredible this thing is. Best part is that even when it's OFF it looks gorgeous, so I got bonus points from the wife on that. 1080 broadcasts are simply stunning, and blu-ray dvds are too good to be believed. Yes, this thing costs a bundle, but it'll be the best investment you make this year. DO IT.

"Pioneer plasma rocks" on by macspirit
Pros: Best black level of any TV, superior off-axis viewing, razor sharp detail, 1080p, 4 HDMI inputs, and on and on.
Cons: Price. This one will set you back, but if you want the best, this is it.
Summary: I went through a gradual evolution over several years searching for the best large screen HDTV I could find. Along the way I visited Sony and JVCs LCOS, SED (which disappeared mysteriously) and a variety of direct view LCDs. And then I found plasma. At that point it came down to waiting for the set that had ALL of the features I wanted...at a price I could afford. That's when Pioneer came out with their 2nd generation 1080p plasma, the PRO-110FD, and that's when I took the plunge. It really is an amazing TV. Let me put it this way: It's almost as much fun to watch as my M Roadster is to drive. Almost.
