Pros Picture, Look, Media Center, many more
Cons Price was about all
Summary This is a beautiful TV and after doing about 3 months of reviewing, I came to realize this was the way to go, if you have the dough lol. I called every retailer and checked many different websites and of course in-store comparisons. Almost everyone I spoke to recommended this model.
My only drawback is that we got it about 6 months ago and now they have the 70 series with the media center built in too! Oh well, I'll just get that one as well...
Pros separate media reciever a great feature. good picture quality.
Cons BAD burn-in!!! Multi picture screen not well designed.
Summary i bought this plasma, although it was much more expensive than the others because of all the great reviews it has got on cnet...
the picture quality is really good, but isnt that true for all plasmas??
the worst thing was the burn-in.... you just CANT watch even 2 hours of TV continuously because the logo of the TV channel will get burnt in... this isnt permanent, but its very irritating, and takes more than a week to fade away.
I'd therefore advise everyone to seriously look at getting an LCD instead.
The other thing that i found really irritating about this Plasma is the screen mode changing...
Firstly, in twin-picture mode, at least one of the inputs has to be the cable... that means you cant watch a dvd on one side and the set-top box on the other.
Secondly, You cant change the channel in the smaller screen. This is really irritating since the sound only comes from the main screen (which is the only one you can change channels in).
Thirdly, while changing the picture mode from single screen to picture-and-picture or picture-in-picture, or while swapping the pictureor even changing the aspect ratio... the screen goes blank for about a second (which is an eternity). This is really very irritating, considering my 8 year old Toshiba CRT has none of the above problems.
I really wouldnt recommend buying this Plasma....
Pros Vivid Highly Detailed pictures when in HD
Cons Wish Non HD pictures would show the sidebars black
Summary Shocked..when I put on HD channels like Discovery, the colors are so real its amazing. I cannot believe how awesome the pictures are. The black leve is great when in contrast with other images on the screen. However I wish it was darker in dark scenes that dont have a lot of other things in it. But its well worth the money and everyone that comes over cannot believe how amazing it looks.
Pros It worked for 18 Months before breaking
Cons It broke after 18 Months
Summary For the past 5 months I have been trying to get Pioneer to fix my $6,400 dollar 43 inch Plasama TV.
Now that I'm stitting at home looking at the blank screen for 5 months I think it would have been better to purchase a cheaper set...that way I could have purchased a new plasma TV and thrown the existing one in the trash!
If you do purchase a Pioneer I hope it works longer than 18 months.
Pros Great picture, sleek look, removable speakers, good inputs, media reciever
Cons can not remove channels not recieved, 3:4 tv has gray bars on side instead of black, fan in media reciever always on -makes slight hum, annoying tv guid info when change channels -can not be removed.
Summary I really like this tv, great picture quality, and it looks great with the slim, simple, sleek black frame. The media receiver is really nice to have (although even when the tv is off it hums slightly), it keeps things simple and organized, all wires going into it rather than the back of tv -I think this is easier and definitely nicer if you want to hang the tv on a wall.
There are a few very annoying things about this tv though. When you change channels, you can not just simply display the channel number in the corner of the screen, like a normal tv. It makes this big menu bar come out from bottom left, displaying the channel, show name, and other info. It stays out for about 5 seconds, blocking the view of the actual show -very annoying.
Another thing, when watching 4:3 tv, the bars on the left and right are gray rather than black. Yes, this is better for the tv as far as burn in, but it is very distracting, and if you mix your tv viewing habits up, burn in should not be an issue (also, CNET says burn in is greatly exaggerated). I really wish you could change the color of the bars to black.
One more thing, the channels I do not pay for (such as showtime, HBO, etc.) are not removable from the channel line up. So if you are flipping channels, you will have to flip past blank channels. This is also very annoying. They do let you remove them from the tv guide, but who wants to use that?
Over all, I am very pleased with my purchase, the tv has a great picture; blacks are very good, although not perfect, colors are very vibrant, and regular and HD programming both look excellent on it. But I am hoping that Pioneer will come out with some software updates that will fix the few annoying problems. Pioneer, are you reading this?
