"Not worth the money!"
Pros: Nice looking - better blacks then past models
Cons: Price - colors overblown
Summary: Don't get me wrong! Pioneer makes a nice unit. The price is just way to high. The other problem is the colors are overblown and very unnatural. Some people love the colors, I find them very fake. Pioneers has improved the black over past models and are the second best in blacks. The best blacks belong to Panasonic. For the money Panasonic is the best plasma on the market. Hard to find in 50" size right now but worth the wait. I personally own four Panasonic's and love them. I have installed all brands of plasma and Panasonic and Pioneer are the top two.

for somebody who claims to have installed and used so many plasma's i think you should go to the opthomologist. if you can't understand that it means the eye doctor, because you clearly don't know how to adjust the picture to get the clearest, most natural colors that HD can offer. this tv delivers an impeccably clear rich picture and the features are hard to match. if you need a review that helps, check out my post.

Is it really worth the $800+ price to get the 4360 instead of the PDP-4350HD?

Pioneer had the best style and a look, I think samsung have better color pixel.

I say plasmadealer's opinion is a halfhearted review of the tv. The tv set has a great color and can still be fine tuned, out of the box it is vibrant and some people prefer that. You can still tune it down. Best bang for the buck is Panasonic however Pioneer have lots of features the Panasonic does not have, and I mean A LOT. Memory for each separate input, media receiver, picture in picture, and more. Black on the 2 sets are even, the Panasonic is better on the black is old news.

I have a 5060 coming tomorrow (I hope) that cost me $4400, including shipping, from an authorized dealer (very important). A small local shop offered it for about $4,600 plus tax plus their own warranty. The Pio is in that stage where big boxes are making big markups but internet dealers are sometimes a lot better. Shop around, but make sure it's a Pioneer authorized dealer (Pioneer has a list of them). They don't honor their warranty from any unauthorized dealer.

The other comments to this review are right on target. I have the Pioneer PDP-5050 and love it. Price should NEVER be the issue when quality is involved. If you don't like the price of the T.V. don't buy it. Don't degrade the rating that many of us use as a tool in evaluating the set. Thank You.

So the price is high. Big deal. Buy a Maxvent or Polaroid plasma if that's what the complaint is. You said it yourself. Some people like the colors. And some people find it to be very fake. Fine. But to drop a 5 rating on something you don't even own is rediculous. Based on everyone elses assessment of people WHO ACTUALLY OWN THIS SET, they all absolutely LOVE it. Before you dropped a 5 on this set, the user rating for this TV was well above 9---by far the highest user rating for a plasma TV here on cNet.
And besides that, if you've installed all brands of plasmas and Panny & Pio are "the top two", then where does Panny rate?? A 7?? Maybe an 8?? Price between these two brands is marginal at best. Yes, big box stores like BB, Magnolia, CC, Tweeter, etc. ALL sell the Pioneers at retail. You, being a plasma dealer, should already know that. But ANY of those places, in addition to ALL of the authorized Pioneer internet retailers, will ALL bargain or deal with you. The 4360 can be had for well under $3400 and the 5060 can be had for well under $4400. I know this for fact as I called every authorized dealer to find this information out. That all adds up to a price difference of maybe $200 to $400, based on the model and size you are looking at.
Bottom line is, a 5 totally uncalled for and is an abuse on the ratings system. If your 5 was based on something that was NOT subjective (e.g. false conturing, video noise, rainbow effect, artifacting, etc, etc), then maybe it would be a little more justified. But price and overdone colors as reasons for a 5 don't cut it in my book. -
Why would you give a poor rating to a product you don't own? Mr. PlasmaDEALER must not be an authorized dealer for Pioneer and so he is bashing the unit. All the people in the industry I have spoken to and all the trade publications I have read including CNET rank the Pioneer "60-Series" plasma superior to or at least equal to the Panasonic units. I personal have seen both units next to each other in 2 different stores and believe that the Pioneer had the better picture. As far as price goes, most AUTHORIZED Pioneer dealers will give substantial discounts (25% or more) off the list price plus free delivery.
It's one thing to post a comment on a product you do not own, but to give a highly rated product a low rating smacks of an alterior motive.
I am not posting a review of the unit because I do not own one yet, but I expect to buy the 5060 very shortly and will post a review sometime thereafter. -
