"Elegant professional panel"
Pros: Clean unobtrusive profile and arguably the best picture available. Because it is a panel with no speakers or tuner, the cost is significantly less than the residential version.
Cons: None. Although 1080p, once affordable, will be the standard one day.
Summary: We just built a house with a big family room and I wanted a premier audio/video experience. My wife understood my desire for a great tv but wanted the room to be executed tastefully. I quickly realized that a plasma panel was the way to go. TV speakers were unnecessary and a negative. They add bulk and only compete with the surround sound. A tuner was unnecessary because of the cable box. The commercial panel quickly became the obvious choice. CNET reviews as well as my local installer convinced me that the Pioneer CMX505 was the one. It is so beautiful and perfect. Last night I couldn't go to bed because I kept flipping through the HD channels. Staggering picture, it looks like a piece of living art on the wall. I am surprised that more people aren't hyping panels versus residential tvs. They make so much more sense to me. I also think you can rationalize the $500-1,000 more for the Pioneer. It is the best. If you are building a house and committing to a home theater, the difference is nominal.

TRD3,
I am in the EXACT same boat as you: building a house, totally excited about the home theater, wife with concerns, etc. I have spent about a year reading reviews, etc and I have come to the same conclusions as you have re: the Pioneer plasmas and particularly the (value) 505CMX. I do not NEED the silly speakers, stand, and/or the recevier box as I am going with the Denon 4306 receiver and a complete set of Definitive Technologies 5.1 speakers. I am days away from placing my order and I was thrilled to see your comment/advice as this solved it for me! Thanks -
hI, does this tv have an HDMI input, or are there boards one can buy to attach w/ it? i am comparing this to the panasonic professional 50" plasma. thanks
