"Can not go wrong!!" on
Summary: I am not a video nut, or a professional video "guy". I am a normal American that likes to watch tv after work and have friends over on the weekend for a movie. I wanted to upgrade to a plasma tv and was overwhelmed by the choices. If you have an extra $20K and want a plasma tv -go spend it. But if you are a normal person and want a great picture, the Smapo is the way to go! You can not find a better plasma tv for under $5000 anywhere. I spent weeks looking at all the differnet tv's. I got it home connected all my A/V equipment and I am floored at the quality. If you are looing at plamsa tv's you need to look at a Sampo. I can not rave about it enough. Feel free to email me if you are on the fence between a Sampo and another brand, I will explain what I looked at and why I picked the Sampo.

"CNET GOT IT WRONG" on
Summary: I read all the reviews and noted that this was the CES 2002 BEST PLASMA Winner! The only truth to the CNET review was some artifacting in low light to near black portions of movies. However, lets see all the factors that outweigh that one. Builtin tuner, composite video in, s-video in and two component video in. If you know anything about HDTV, then you'll know that at 852 x 480, a 1080i signal scales in perfect ratio. The pixels are square rather than rectangular as they are in 1024 panels. In a 1024 panel, the 1080i scaling does not translate exactly thereby causing artifacts. Not so in a 852 monitor. You have to go to 1280 to get perfect scaling and that will set you back 10K. I've had this TV for over 6 months now and can't be happier with my purchase!

"Best Deal You're Gonna Get!!" on
Summary: The SAMPO is the best deal , by FAR that you are going to get on a Plasma screen. When you buy a TV like this, one thing is most important, and thats future use. This set has EVERY connector you can possibly think of, which is CRITICAL for future compatibility. There is even a USB cable for the next (encripted) version of the HDTV Tuners that come out in the winter of 2002/3. SMAPO did an excellent job in providing connectors to this set. They are all here. Yes, it only has ONE S Video connector, and I would have liked more, but an S Video switch box is only 25 bucks, thats all you need to expand the S Video connectors to 4. You can connect your PC to this set one of THREE ways!! If your videocard has DVI, this set has a DVI input. Ok...how does it look? The picture quality of this set is wonderfull. Its as good or better than ANY of the 15 Plasma sets I looked at. This set makes RCN Cable look crummy, but thats something ALL Plasma sets do. Video from my DVD with just the S Video cable is stunning. The 4:3/16:9/zoom1/zoom2 ratio switches are fabulous...even when stretching a 4:3 source to display in 16:9 , it doesnt look bad at all. Another thing.....SAMPO includes roughly 300$ worth of high end video cables with the set. This brings the cost down even further, since you dont have to buy them. those who say "Pay The money Cheapskates" dont get it....when you buy a Sony or Panasonic, you pay for all that TV advertising. This SAMPO is engineered as well as ANY of the other sets I looked at. A fabulous TV at a fab price.

"Not Bad for the Buck!!" on
Summary: I thoroughly researched this product before buying it. I saw a few thumbs down and that bothered me a bit. But I decided to take a chance...it was all I could afford!..When I finally got the unit I was pleasantly surprised. C'mon Naysayers!! If you wanted 100% sharpness you should have spent $8,000 for a better unit. This one is functional and lots of fun. Depending on the broadcast this baby tries it's best to deliver! Yeah, there is some graininess, but for the price it ain't a bad set!!! Great color, very bright, and very sharp detail in my opinion..it will still knock your socks off!
