"Great TV - Samsung ANYNET does not work with HDMI"

by Concerto on August 9, 2005

    Pros: Great picture

Cons: Does not allow anynet connection with HDMI

Summary: I purchased this HDTV along with a Samsung HT-P50 with upscaling DVD so match the 1080i resolution of the TV - only problem is Samsung advertises you can use their propriatry Anynet conneciton to make everything work from one remote - WRONG! Anynet only works with analog connections - not with HDMI - so in other words you can have a 1080i TV and DVD from Samsung but if you want Anynet to work you must use a 480p analog connection!
Don't be fooled if you read about Anynet - it does not work for HD! SAMSUNG you need to get this right!
I feel like a Bait & Switch victim - because I purchased both products based on the advertised Anynet!

you must have set it up wrong. I just instaled a samsung 1080p lcd and a Samsung bluray player wiht a 700hd hdmi cable from Monster. They configured to each other so fast, I almost didn't realize it. No remote programming or diffucult setup. Make sure that your device is Anynet capable and that you are using a 1.3v HDMI cable and not a cheap firefox from your local Wal-Box retailer. It does work when you do it right.

The anynet connection is not designed to do what this bonehead has in mind. The HDMI connection works just fine and the picture is great.

I plan on using DISH Network, possibly getting their HD service. Will there be a problem using the Samsung LCD TV for full performance?

Is this Samsung's latest biggest and best LCD TV to date?

    Any help would be appreciated.

Concerto provided a caveat. But is this is very techincal caveat or something very basic?

I plan on getting Dish Network, with their digital satellite feed, using their DVD box and possibly their HD service, I presume also with DISH network's HD box as well. Will I have any problems getting full performance with this set up? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
