    "Incredible TV!" on by MMDVB

    Pros: Beautiful image, elegant appearance.

    Cons: None in my opinion

Summary: Before I bought this TV, I bought the SAMSUNG 4692 model, which also had a beautiful image. However, a couple weeks after I got it, I learned about the 1080p new technology. Even though I was happy with the other SAMSUNG, I decided to exchange the TV for a 1080p also the same brand. I got this TV a few days ago, and I have never seen such a beautiful image! The higher resolution did make a lot of difference on the quality of the image. The High Definition channels are unbelievable; sometimes you can even see the pores of the people's face on a close up. Even the regular channels look better. The image looks so sharp and vivid that I believe that the TV designers have reached the ultimate quality for TV’s image. I am very happy that I got this TV not only because of the image, but also the elegant appearance it has. I give 2 thumbs up to this TV!

"Overall package is perfect" on by uncdrew11

Pros: Incredible picture and sexy/sleek presentation

Cons: Price is a bit high, but look for that to drop by more by January 07

Summary: I bought this tv a month ago from onecall.com after researching tv's online and in stores for 2 months. Right out of the box, the Samsung LN-S4695D completely blew me away. With a contrast ratio of 6000:1, it's capable of producing richer blacks than any LCD I have ever seen. I currently have an upconverting DVD player hooked up to it and movies look exceptionally CRISPY. My fiance and I may never go to the movie theater again. HD tv is equally as impressive and will only get better as the FCC will require more signals to be broadcast in high def. You will play xbox 360 for the first time when you see what it looks like on the Samsung LN-S4695D.
The asthetic presentation of the tv is almost equally as impressive as the picture. With the piano black finish, 4.2 inch thickness, and swivel stand, it looks downright sexy. Everyone who has seen my tv has commented on its impressive appearance just as much as they rave about the picture. The only drawback that I have can speak of is the price. But with rumored drops in LCD's and Plasma's of up to 30% by January of 2007, that complaint will soon be moot. I honestly feel like I bought the best tv I could have ever wished for and recommend it to anyone who wants a flat panel and can part with 3 grand.

    "Awesome TV" on by scottvj

    Pros: Beautiful picture

    Cons: Very Pricey

Summary: We shopped around for many months at every electronic store in the area. Totally confused on whether to get a plasma, DLP or LCD. Finally took the plunge and got the 46" Samsung LCD. What an awesome tv and beautiful sharp clear pictures (even w/out HD hookup). I couldn't get my husband off the couch over the weekend. We both love this tv. It is overly priced but well worth it.

"Not sure if I can adjust to LCD 46in" on by x42384

Pros: Large clear screen, PC Input, PIP, Many Inputs, SRS, Power Saver

Cons: Little expensive, remote is not lit up,

Summary: I am new to LCD HDTV, whereas I always used a analog 32in TV (non-SDTV). Paid $2,650.00 for the samsung at Best Buy, and get a 50.00 Best Buy rewards gift card, thus paid $2,600.00 for this model, plus the 350.00 warranty.

The TV looks great, but the problem I am having is that for some reason, I can not adjust to a 46in LDC screen (not Samsung's problem). Because of my living room space, the TV is 13 feet from where I sit, so it is a little close and I have difficulties adjusting to short distance. I need another six feet of distance, and I think it will be ok for my eye sight. I am thinking of returning it for the LNS4095D instead, which is a little smaller. Would like to try a 42in, but no Samsung 42in LCD model.

A couple things I have been trying to reduce eye stress is set the picture to 4:3 mode and even setting the screen mode to low power so that it is not so bright. Helps a little.
I am using off the air HD signals via a small antenna. HD signals are crisp and clear. Surround sound is excellent with plenty of power.

Picture in picture mode is perfect, allows me to watch two channels at once.

Connected my DELL laptop to the PC Input and this looked very good.

Video and color are excellent at default settings.

One thing I have noticed, which may be normal is that I always here a loud "snap" when the screen mode changes. For example, when I watch Good Morning America in HD mode, the anouncer will say "and now, here's your local weather..etc", and this is when it flips to the local station and I hear a loud snap.

Overall though, I am happy with this TV, except for size and straining on my eyes.
I do not think I am giving Samsung enough credit for the quality of this LCD TV. This is a beautiful TV with excellent sound quality.

Be happy to read anyone's advice on how I can adjust to this 46in screen and make my viewing more comfortable. I would really hate to take this back to Best Buy.

    Updated
I had to return my unit due to a backlighting issue. Since it still falls under the Samsung one year warranty as well as my extended Best Buy warranty, Best Buy replaced the unit with a new one.
The new unit does not appear to have the backlight issue, but other things I noticed on the newer one are:

    * Remote control is much more responsive than the first unit. Along with other people, the remote control was slow, and on many occassions, you would have to press twice. But with the new unit, it is more responsive.

    * Here is the biggest difference. The signal strength reading is twice the strength as the first unit. Before, I was averaging 4 out of 10 bars and never saw anything higher than 5. Now, I average 8 bars and occassionaly hit all 10. I am using the same rabbit ears antenna from Walmart ($12.95). Samsung must have made changes to the new unit to better the reception, or maybe my first unit was bad.

Summary: I first purchased the sony 40" Bravia from crutchfield.
