"The best 1080p in this price range by far" on by Wolverine37

Pros: Fine detail, great black level, attractive looking on and off

    Cons: None at this time

Summary: I have owned many LCD TV's in the past 2 years. I started with the Samsung slimfit CRT TV back when that was introduced, then to a Westinghouse, then to a Vizio, then to a Samsung and of all of them, Samsung has by far outshined all of the above listed.

The phrase "you get what you pay for" stands very true when it comes to TV's. This TV is the Best Buy exclusive version of the popular ln-t4065f which is the same TV, just a different style. I happen to love the external appearance of this TV, especially the hidden speakers on the bottom (the ln-t4065f has them on the sides). From the second I walked into the store I was captured by this LCD's picture quality. Everything including the reflective screen appeals to me.

Speaking of, most people seem to steer clear of the reflective screen, but I happen to love it, especially in a darker room. The contrast, shadow detail, color, sound, etc... are all top notch that you would expect from Samsung.

With a slew of inputs you can't go wrong with this TV. The biggest frustration I have had with LCD TV's is the backlight clouds or "mura" as it's called. This TV for the size has surprisingly little to none of that. And I honestly feel that the reflective screen helps aid in preventing your eye catching any of those distracting issues.

Another large issue I have seen with the other LCD TV's is the "ghosting" that happens on objects (especially in darker scenes). This TV filters signals so smoothly that you see none of this.

"Comb Filtering" is how well the TV can reduce the noise in scenes (again, especially in dark). You may have areas with lots of details and the image seems to jump around or look very pixelated. Again, this TV does a great job of filtering that so that your image is clean, and still all the time!

I would honestly have to say that this TV gives the positives of a Plasma TV with the lasting quality of an LCD. I play xbox 360 on this TV with the HD DVD player hard drive through a VGA output, and I am amazed at how beautiful the picture quality is.

Another thing that needs to be said is the general misconception about LCD TV's and their contrast ratio. While extrememly high on this TV due to the dynamic ability of Samsung's dNie picture enhancement system, in general this doesn't really mean much. This TV has one of the best you can get at 15,000:1 while a Sony might have 1500:1. The point is, it all looks good on paper, but you can't compare brand to brand on contrast ratio, just go with what your eye likes the best. It just happens that this TV has a great ratio that aids in creating realistic black levels that actually look black! (most lower end LCD's the black tends to look like dark gray.

Overall I love this TV the best out of any that I have seen within this price range. I highly, highly recomend it! If you have more questions, feel free to email me!

"My 3rd TV, finally got it right!!!" on by precision21

Pros: Excellent picture, features and connections. Working at bestbuy I tested and found this lcd to have the best picture quality out of every lcd/plasma via a pc connection.

Cons: Not as many picture-in-picture options as their previous models

Summary: Excellent picture quality from multiple sources, also sound quality for built in speakers rather impressive. I watch HD sports and no blur, I play xbox and excellent picture and I have it connected to a pc and can view the font at 1920x1080 across the room. Also, the third hdmi on the side is very nice so that one can connect a gaming console easily.
I first purchased a different lcd and then a plasma tv then finally found this one which satisfied all of my needs as stated earlier.

    "Incredible Product" on by owings64

Pros: Picture, sound and ease of use

Cons: Black trim attracts finger prints

Summary: The instruction menus are intiutive and easy to use. Set up was as simple as plugging it in and connecting the cable box.

I immediately turned on a baseball game on ESPNHD and it was jaw dropingly AWESOME baby. I saw the dew on a blade of grass and cheered. The 1080p is PERFECT. Even non-HD channels were improved over my previous LCD (SHARP) which was also outstanding.

Samsung had proven to me, at least in the area of initial customer satisfaction, that it is the KING of LCD HD sets. Comparing at the store next to Sony, this model was as good or better.

I purchased mine for a STEAL at Sears. The have a sale that takes $450.00 off the top, so my beautiful new piece of elegant technology cost me a mere $1400.00. A pitence when compared the joy I felt watching a 3-2 slider get hammered out of the park.

Just to make sure I hadn't made a mistake I turned to PBSHD and watched a nature show. You don't know what your missing until you've seen a Polar Bear wandering Antarctica in CRYSTAL CLEAR 1080p HIGH DEF.

I strongly recommend this set based on my initial satisfaction. I'll check back in about a year to let you know how the relationship is holding up.

    "Fantastic TV!" on by Deirdre444

Pros: easy setup, beautiful picture, lightweight, stylish and sound-ready

    Cons: a little pricey

Summary: I bought my Samsung LN-T4066F at BestBuy after careful review of the many electronics rating sites on the internet and found that over and over again, Samsung was, hands down, the brand to buy. I went back and forth between the 40" & 46" LCDs and the 42" plasma. But this 1080p LCD HDTV with a 15,000:1 contrast ratio was rated 8.8 out of 10 and had all the connections I thought I might need. As it turns out, the reviewers were absolutely right. The picture is outstanding with little or no adjustments.
It's also a fairly lightweight TV even considering that the screen is more like the standard reflective glass screen of a plasma which generally makes for a heavier set. Bear in mind that I'm a 130 lb girl standing at 5'6" and I had no trouble getting this TV in the house, out of the box and up on a small TV table.
And I kept reading in reviews that if you have a well-lit room with many windows, this TV's glossy screen might reflect more than its share of ambient light, but I didn't find this to be the case. Actually, I watch my DVDs at night in a darkened, theatre-like setting anyway so the reflectiveness of the screen isn't a concern of mine at all. Personally I think it's glass-like screen provides a clearer and purer picture.
In addition to all of that, it's remarkably easy to navigate through the setting menus but be sure to set it to "home" mode vs. "shop" mode or you'll be struggling with its tendency to reset itself to the default settings.
Honestly though, just out of the box and hooked up to a regular analog DVD player, this TV produced mediocre results. That's when I knew that the purchase of an upconverter DVD player was essential if I was to enjoy this TV in the way that it was meant to be enjoyed. I bought a top name brand model that included the HDMI cable for under a hundred bucks and that was all it took. And the picture? Just as I expected: stunning! Try watching Brokeback Mountain with its sweeping Canadian landscapes. It's truly an amazing cinematic experience.
You'll also notice that some DVDs show more detail than others. More often than not, this is simply a director or cinematographer's choice during filmmaking. Depending on the subject matter, a tighter focus can enhance or interfere with the overall impression they wish to make with their film. While this isn't Filmmaking 101, this should serve to remind you not to blame the TV for these variances. Consider the original source. Example: Older films will inevitably show their age in the form of a picture lacking crispness. But you will see this on any TV at any price.
Going onward, the packaging of this TV is very impressive. The smooth lines and rounded corners make this a very stylish piece of equipment indeed. I've heard it referred to as piano black. Whatever it is, it's classy and sophisticated and will go well in any home.
Lastly, I found that the speakers, 10 watts each and located under the TV's bottom edge are more than adequate. Sure you can do the whole home-theatre speaker system thing (not included obviously), but without getting into all of that, I think you'll find that it's more than enough when left in Surround Sound mode.
Bottom line? Buy this TV. I now have a movie theatre in my home and I'm loving it!

"Excellent Picture" on by Chad B.

Pros: Best picture in this price range for this size

    Cons: None at all

Summary: This tv has the best picture and options in this price range compared to Sony, Sharp, and LG, the other three we were looking at. We were able to Buy this tv at Best Buy for $1532.00 because they said they could beat everybody else in price which was Brandsmart, Fry's, Circuit City, and HHGregg. They did just that too.
