"One amazing television"
on by rupture007Pros The best blacks, stunning contrast ratio.
Cons The remote is terrible.... hey it's all I can come up with right now.
Summary I got this tv to replace my 50" samsung plasma. 50" was too big for the room. Although this one is 40" it really didn't seem much smaller as far as screen size.
The factory presets don't make the picture look very good. Once those are adjusted it easily became the best HD I've seen. The LED backlights really work wonders to help create great color contrast and stunning blacks like nothing seen before.
My current HD source is a DirecTV receiver model H10 connected via component jacks. My HD DVR will be installed Oct. 17th which will be connected via the HDMI jacks so I'm looking forward to a slight improvement there also.
I just got a DVI-HDMI cable so I'm going to hookup my computer (Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTS) to the TV and check out some gaming on it.
All-in-all, I'm very satisfied with this TV, Samsung has once again put out a quality product at a great price. I highly recommend this TV. -
"Major repair repeats"
on by oheartPros I'm too ticked off to list any.
Cons Clicking noises when starting and then just clicking and no start just over a year. Repairman
said there were two different versions of same model; one had this defective part that, when replaced, would malfunction again. A year later it did.Summary Samsung manufactured a tv with a defective part. I've had it fixed and now it doesn't work again...same reason.
I will never, again, buy from Samsung! -
"This LCD is a must have."
on by ejee16Pros Too many to list...
Amazing picture quality, 1080p
Built in subwoofer / great sound for an LCD
Swivel Base
Motion Plus, great for sports
Smart lighting feature is incredible
Touch-sensitive TV controls
PC input
500,000:1 contrast ratioCons expensive price tag
Summary I think the pros / cons list speaks for itself. I am elated to own such a quality product. The user controls are exceptional, especially in "movie mode," where the user has 100% control. I also connect this set to my laptop via vga in 1080i. It looks stunning and plays streaming video seamlessly.

"Absolutely Amazing"
on by rhaas555Pros Image quality, easy of set-up, sound, Motion Plus
Cons None what so ever
Summary I just received my LN-T4081F. I purchased it through Amazon. The contractor who fulled the order was Electronics Expo in New Jersey. I paid $2199 with no tax and free shipping. I reviewed many LCD over the lat 3 months before I made my decision. I was close to purchasing a Sony XBR4 or XBR5 but I saw the 4081 side by side with the XBR5 at a Best Buy. It blew the Sony out of the water.
After receiving the unit it took all of 5 minutes to set it up. However after reading CNET's review of the 4681 I checked for the latest firm ware version. To my dismay my 4081 had the 1003 firm ware. A little surprising since I purchase it in April 2008 and according to the serial number the LCD was made las August 21st. I called Samsung support and requested the 1008 firm ware. I was told the latest revision was 1008.3. They sent me a firm ware update withing 2 days. It uploaded with no issue. The new version if 1009 dated January 21, 2008.
After uploading the new firm ware I set the LCD's parameters to those listed under the CNET's review of the 4681. The image is spectacular.
I know this LCD is a little pricey but when you compare it to the Sony's (about the same price) it stands alone. I guess one can say there is no comparison. -
"Samsung BAD - Very BAD"
on by jgerltPros When it worked it worked brilliantly - one year and five months two days and sixteen hours.
Cons Screen went out - still get the sound - no picture. Never had a TV die in such a short period of time. Finding a service outlet not easy - I live in a rural part of Missouri.
Summary Shelling out over $2,500.00 for a TV -they should last a little longer and the company behind them should stand by their product weaknesses.
