"Perfect Bedroom TV, great picture and value for price!" on by SocalRonin

Pros: Great HD picture. Blu Rays look ridiculously clean. No dead pixels!
Superb hi-def LCD Screen for Xbox 360 or PS3 gaming.
Speakers more than functional for a bedroom.
Best appearance and styling by Samsung.
Price was excellent, $599 at Best Buy.

Cons: Somewhat limited connectivity with only 2 HDMI and no S-Vid.
Standard satelite picture not the best.
Dust and dirt magnet. If you've ever owned a black car you would understand.

Summary: I'm extremely happy with the purchase. I've been researching LCD TV's for over a year and a half. I'm glad I waited until the big price drops started happening. A comparable Samsung 32 inch LCD was $750 and above a year ago. I got this for $599 which was exactly what I wanted to spend. I considered buying a Vizio but really had my heart set on the Samsung. If you are considering buying a 37 inch LCD from a lesser brand due to price, please buy the Samsung instead. I'm happy I did and you will be happy too.
If you are considering this TV for primarily playing video games in your bedroom, this is your TV. Great PS3 and XBox 360 picture with the 6ms refresh rate. I played Call of Duty 4 and Bioshock on Xbox 360 and the picture was beyond outstanding. Metal Gear Solid 4 on PS3 was crystal clear and perfect! It really is ridiculous for gaming and I would highly recomend this is you are in a dorm room or a bedroom and you are a gamer.
Overall I HIGHLY recomend this TV, especially if you are using it in a small space. A perfect starter TV for a beginner HDTV buyer!

Today (1/6/10) my television refuses to power up. Went online and found literally thousands of people with complaints regarding Samsung televisions. Seems Samsung in their infinite wisdom has manufactured power supplies with cheap and unreliable capacitors, rendering their television sets useless without a minimum $300 repair. All this within a one and a half years time. What a joke.
I am sorry if anyone took my advice and bought this television, or any product from Samsung. Their customer support is horrific and basically they don't care about their customers or their faulty products.
Also shame on CNET for not acknowledging these rampant issues regarding quality control. Nobody should have to spend good money on a television that doesn't work within a year and a half. Shame on you CNET you are supposed to be helping us make rational decisions, but then again why would CNET care when Samsung is feeding them advertising dollars.
What a shameful and disgraceful world we live in.

"Good image dissapointing sound" on by laszloadrian

    Pros: Image quality

Cons: Sound gets blurry on digital channels

Summary: I bought this Tv 3 months ago. I was very pleased at the beginning but lately I have sound problems on the digital channels. First i taught is the cable signal but the technician said the problem might be with the TV.

"Beautiful picture, but distorted sound on HD channels" on by Peridot180

Pros: *Amazing picture (bright colors and great contrast ratio)
    *Sleek design
    *Intuitive controller and menu
    *Great price

Cons: *Horrible sound on HD channels; distorted at regular intervals
*QAM tuner is defective and has problems with Comcast cable without a box
*Menu could be easier to use when deleting channels
*Samsung customer service is downright horrible

Summary: We bought this TV because of the beautiful picture, sleek design, and great price.

Unfortunately, we started having sound issues with it after a month of use (past the return period at Best Buy). We researched the problem and discovered that there is a problem with Samsung's QAM tuners in these TVs and other digital TVs that they make. For whatever reason, the tuners cannot keep up with the cable signal (in our case, Comcast) and this results in distorted and "robotic" sound on the HD channels. The sound will get distorted from anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes at regular intervals (usually between 3-5 minutes, but sometimes it occurs much more frequently). Many people have reported this problem, but it only seems to occur with users who have cable without a cable box, especially Comcast cable.

Our 26" TV of the same series does not have this issue, strangely enough, so not all of Samsung's digital TVs have this problem. I definitely would not take the chance, though, if you do not have a cable box. Had we known about this problem, we never would have bought the TV. Now we are stuck with it until Samsung fixes the problem or goes through 2 more repair cycles with us. We already had the main board replaced once and the problem came back a day later. It is a tuner problem that needs to be addressed either through firmware updates or by issuing a recall. If they would just address the problem and make an attempt to fix it, there would be no issue.

Needless to say, we are very disappointed with Samsung and expected more from them. Next time we will be buying a Panasonic.

"Expect problems after 1 yr. Get service plan!" on by martinmarie

    Pros: Great value

Cons: At 1 year and 5 months, our TV's picture went out suddenly. Had it repaired by Geek Squad, then after ONLY 6 days it went out again. Got capacitor replaced and now works. Just ready to get rid of this TV- too many problems in such a short lifespan.

Summary: Without a service plan, I would have been extremely displeased with having a brand new tv malfunction after only 1 year. Still displeased even though we have a service plan, because we should not be having so many problems already. Geek Squad advice is NOT to purchase Samsung LCD based on all the repair requests they have gotten. I would get a Sony next time.

"Great TV for general use" on by mmcall

Pros: Great picture for price, Great brand quality, glossy black finish, many customizing controls

Cons: Disappointing sound quality, but not poor.

Summary: I would recommend this set to anyone looking for a 32" LCD. I am a sales manager for electronics and appliances and could get any brand. I choose Samsung for our home electronics if that says anything to you.....
