"Garbage - $1000 for 2years of viewing then throw away!" on by cabaretewilliam
Pros: None. None!
Cons: Samsung built a toss away $1000 TV. The T-Con Board failed but because it isbuilt into the main board itwill cost $1000 to repair.
Summary: My last ever purchase of anything by Samsung. There are thousands more of this model that havefailed in the same way. Just google the problem - no picture but still has sound - and you will see that this TV was made to fail within 2 years.

"Recall issue" on by indyfaithful
Pros: Television had great picture.... but didn't last
Cons: Lasted for a year and one month.
Summary: Don't buy. These televisions have a known capacitor issue. Mine lasted for one year before it started to take longer to turn on...then eventually stopped coming on at all. Repair covered for the capacitors but...of course...there is also an uncovered power supply issue...who saw that coming. Look elswhere...sanding let me down.

"Best 40" TV for the price." on by TwistyO
Pros: Excellent picture quality, even when up scaling.
Uniform quality throughout.
User Interface is easy to navigate and well laid out.Cons: None that I can think of
Summary: I was in the market for a 42" TV, but I wanted to keep it as far below 1,000 as I could. Little did I know I would be compromising quality for price. So I stepped down to the 40" market. Right away this TV stood out from the pack. The depth of color from blacks to whites is spot on. And I have found no uniformity issues at all. Comparing it to other TV's in a similar price range, the other seemed to have a much more muted color palette. And even the Vizio with 120mHZ paled in comparison.
I am a gamer, and in playing I have found no issues with screen lag or refresh rate even though it is only a 60MHz model.
Changing "Entertainment Modes", which quickly changes the picture and sound to suit your viewing, is easy to do. The modes include Sports, Games, and Movies, all of which work quite well and I found no need to adjust them further.
But if you find yourself in need of tweaking things further, the user interface is very easy to use. Simple things like setting up the names for each one of your components is simple.
Perhaps the greatest assets is the fact that the TV communicates with my Samsung DVD/Home Theater system though the HDMI cable. I can connect to the DVD/Home Theater system through the controls on the TV Remote. It will automatically turn off the TV speakers, and everything is controllable through the one remote. Having my video game systems hooked through the TV, there is no need for extra cables to run to and from the surround sound.
I paid $800 for the TV, it is well worth the money and would have expected to pay a few hundred dollars more for the outstanding quality of the product. -
"Great everything" on by caazi
Pros: Great computer connection
Cons: none that I have found yet
Summary: Wanted to set the record straight, not sure what kind of video card CNET used to get those computer resolutions... must of been a cheap Intel on board card... Anyway I connected my PC and it supported EVERY resolution I gave it INCLUDING 1920x1080!!!
Video card: Nvidia 9800 GTX+
Connection: DVI to HDMI adapter then HDMI cable to TV
*DVI uses SAME signal as HDMI, just no audio. So no need to get a video card with a Native HDMI unless you want to use the crummy HDTV speakers.
*Also DO NOT buy that expensive HDMI cable... it is a digital signal!!! 1's and 0's no analog wave form... no matter how expensive or cheap the cable is.... 1's are still 1's and 0's are still 0's... LOL =)
