Summary I purchased this TV to replace a 2006 LG plasma that went out of commission. It was going to cost $300-350 to fix it so why not spend a little extra for a brand new TV... Overall extremely happy with the TV, it was a very good value for the price.Edit Link
1) Picture quality - of course compared to the old LG plasma, the picture quality of fantastic. Rich colors, very little glare on the screen, pretty good viewing angle. I looked at this and several other Samsung models at a local electronics store, and I honestly could not tell much difference between this model and some of the higher-end models in terms of just the picture. I was specifically interested in the D550, which is about $100 cheaper since it is 60 Hz, but the D630 did have a small but noticeable improvement in fine details especially with moving objects. I also thought about the D5500 but to me there was not much difference between LCD and LED all else being equal. I can see why LED would be attractive for people who plan to hang it on the wall, but if you are going to let it sit on a stand you can't really appreciate how thin it is anyway. Made more sense to spend the extra $100 for 120 Hz than LED.
2) Sound quality - so so, but what do you expect from a TV. It is good for regular TV viewing, I really like the "clear voice" mode which lets you hear conversations easily without cranking up the volume. The TV speakers sound a little thin or hollow if you are watching a movie.
3) Other features - remote works fine, nothing particularly good or bad. TV stand swivels, which is good. Connectivity is good, 4 HDMI and 2 USB are more than enough for me. It does not have built in wireless, which didn't matter for me since my router usually sits under the TV anyway so I just hook up the ethernet cable if I needed internet connection. No web browser or apps, which again would have been pretty useless for me since I can get all of that through my PS3. I tried the Allshare feature to stream videos from my computer to the TV. It works okay but I find it easier to just connect my portable hard drive to the TV.

Pros I really liked this TV. Great picture quality, beautiful style, very easy to use menu and remote control. The hookup ports at the back are numerous and easy to figure out. I can't say enough about the menu - it is very user friendly, logical, and it is ev
Cons As reported by other owners of this model, the sound is a bit weak. The biggest (and only other) con, however, is the fact that my TV no longer works after only 3 months. I purchased the TV new from Best Buy in June. Recently it made a loud cracking/simul
Summary I feel embarrassed for having recommended this very TV to several friends and family members since purchasing it. One friend actually purchased the next size smaller (32 inch? 38?) on our recommendation a few weeks ago. After this incident, I,like the previous poster, very much hope that our model is just a lemon and that it will be replaced by Samsung.
Pros Spectacular image quality (after appropriate set-up). Sound is fine, but with a picture this good you might consider some kind of surround sound. Matte Glass image (YES!) so no unwanted reflections. Far superior to 3 year old Sony Bravia it replaced.
Cons Picture looked REALLY crappy out of the box. Absolutely go to the web, and use the settings found on the forum. (Blacks will still need to be darker, dynamic contrast should be "low", and perhaps other settings to your own taste.)
Summary I'm astounded at the progress in TV picture quality over just 3 years. Calibrate / adjust this TV using the best settings found on the web, and then tweak them according to your own eyes and environment. The picture quality is stunning. On the down side, it appears that the settings may have to be redone/re-input for every input option - hdmi 1, hdmi 2, av1, av2, etc. I'm a photographer who looks at images in print and on monitors all day long. I can't say enough good things about this panel. In the recent past you could see that digital TV's were "developing", and "pretty good for digital". With this panel (and probably a number of other brands as well) it feels like we've entered a fairly mature phase of the technology where the new TV's far outstrips anything and everything that existed before.
Pros Great image... when it work t, and all share is not to bad except for multi language movies it only plays the english version of the movie for some reasons. (I'm french from Quebec)
Cons It broke after 2 week's of use (A lemon, **** happens) and Samsung Customer service refuse to replace it with a new one (2 weeks old) and told me that I have to wait 1 week before I can get the visit of a technician. To that add the 48 hours of testing t
Summary If they can finally make it work an it just append to be a bad luck, I will be happy after all but the way I have been treated by Brault et Martineau, the store where I've purchased the television, and Samsung.... I don't think I would recommend it to any one or ever buy any Samsung product ever again because of there lake of consideration for customer satifaction. Customer service is something that seems to disappeared slowly and we should really fight for it.
Pros Excellent picture quality on digital TV or HDMI. 4 HDMI, 2 composite video,USB and PC inputs. stereo analog audio out mini jack or optical. Many picture adjustment controls. Audio quality of TV speakers is OK for the small speaker size but not great.
Cons Algorithm for converting analog cable channels is very poor with lots of ghosting, blurring and smearing of the picture. No coaxial digital audio output. The TV volume control does not control the level of the volume on the analog audio output.
Summary I picked this TV based on past experience with Samsung products and the many combination of input jacks. I didn't realize just how much picture I was missing with the old analog TV. If you watch analog cable TV you will be disappointed but digital cable channels will be superb. I now use an LG VCR/DVD combo unit with an HDMI out to feed the Samsung HDMI input and I get a great picture with analog cable channels that way. I use the Samsung basically just as a monitor.
I have an Insignia Digital LCD TV in the kitchen which has no problem with analog cable channels so it just appears to be a Samsung shortcomming.
It has an Ethernet jack but it has limited functionality so you still need another box for Netflix etc. I have not tried this connection.
