"Great HDTV for the money."

5 stars  | on by chua001

Pros

Great Picture Quality. It isn't too hot like other LCD Televisions are and looks amazing anywhere no matter what style you may have. Sound is decent and it looks super sleek. Found it at my Local Fry's Electronics for $599.00 thought it was a steal.

Cons

Not too many things to gripe about with this TV. If you're going to go to a store to pick it up be sure you have space to take it home as its a behemoth. Lack of an HDMI cable was also somewhat saddening.

I've only had this product for a few days now and it's been working flawlessly. Movies look so clear and crisp and it is no doubt the best bang for your buck you're going to find out there. I was going to pay the extra hundred for the LN46C640 because of the 120Hz refresh rate instead of the 60Hz the LN46C550 has but I talked myself out of it in an attempt to at least try to be a little frugal in this economy and I'm glad I did.

The LN46C550 is a great value and is definitely worth a look at if you're on the hunt for a new HDTV.

"Great tv...for a year. Don't buy one."

Pros

Samsung LCD's have great picture quality when you compare them side by side in a store. This tv has plenty of easily accessible inputs on the side and back. We had great usability in connecting to a Comcast HD cable box and a Samsung BD player.

Cons

This tv has problems after the 1 year warranty is up. I did not find any on the web when I was looking for reviews on this model but now I see them everywhere. Our problem does not seem to be as bad as some but it will require us to get service.

I have never been one to get extended warranties on any products but if you are going to buy this tv you have to get one. It will fail after the warranty runs out. Our tv is automatically turning off, the volume goes up on its own, the source mode changes intermittently and the menu will just come up as you are watching tv. It is probably going to cost us a few hundred dollars to fix if I read others reviews on the net. I think they purposefully make models such as this to fail after the warranty is up. Get another tv but don't get this one. You have been warned.
