Bought this at HHGregg for $900 after shopping for tv's for 2 years and I think this is one of the best sets on the market. Picture quality was as good as any comparable set and even sets costing twice as much and I cant imagine any more features being offered.

There are boat loads of tuning features and Im still experimenting with them. Im not a professional or expert but Im not sure how many more tuning options could be offered.

SD thru my Dish Network receiver looks very good. Obviously not as good as HD but much better than I expected and is very watchable. Most of the channels I watch (Spike, Speed etc) are in SD so this was a major concern of mine and Im glad to report that Im totally satisfied with this Sammy's SD performance. The only complaint is that the SD picture is a little too dark. Get into a shadowy scene and the dark areas can drown out a bit too much of the scene.

HD looks fantastic as do DVD's thru my Toshiba upconverting DVD player. No complaints at all here!

Ive had zero image retention so far after a week and many hours of viewing. I havent left any static images on the screen for more than 30 minutes yet but so far Ive seen no evidence of image retention or burn in. There is a pixel shifter with adjustable intervals on here and a couple tools available to fix any image that may get burned in but I believe as long as youre careful you will never have a problem

The only negative Ive noticed in PQ is there seems to be a slight push in skin tones to being a little too pink. However Im still dialing the settings in so I may be able to wash it out. But if not its by no means too much and I could easily live with it.

The supposed "anti-glare" coating is worthless. Put a light in the right spot and the tv basically becomes a mirror. Be prepared to do some maneuvering with your lammps.

All in all I love this TV and am completely happy with my purchase. PQ is as good or better than any set at twice the price with plenty of features and hook ups. Highly recommended!

"Amazing still picture, and that's it."

1.5 stars  | on by BMFer13

Pros

Great still picture, good user menu and customization.

Cons

Horrible IR compared to other plasmas.
Bad refresh rate.
After some use red pixels bleed into dark areas.
Faint horizontal bars across the screen.

I have the 50" version. This was my first HDTV and I was amazed with the picture when I first got it. I had minor issues with the tv in the first year, and was told that they were not enough of a problem to send a tech to my home. I should have pushed the issue. After a year of use my panel had major issues. Red pixels bleed into the blacks, worse IR than before breakin, faint horizontal bars over the whole screen.
Even aside from the defects in my screen, this TV still does not perform on par with other plasmas on the market. I've purchased a cheaper plasma from another major manufacturer that is superior in everyway to my Samsung, except for still-picture quatlity.
Do not get sucked in by the amazing still-picture quality and do not ignore any minor issues with this set while under warranty.
This has become one of my worst purchases of the past ten years.
