"Don't waste a thousand dollars or more on a Pioneer"
Pros: HDMIs everywhere. Vibrant (I know its a stupid word, sorry) colors, DLNA equipped right out of the box means movies, tv shows, pictures and music on your networked computers are on your TV.
Cons: Frame not as pretty as last years model. Swivel stand a little wobbly
Summary: I got this set as a replacement for the PN50A650 from Best Buy. I really liked the styling on the previous model better but the most important part of the television is the picture and in that area the PN50B650 equals or betters every other television I have ever seen.
The picture settings menu is extensive and easy to understand so customization to individual preferences is simple and there are presets that will satisfy the layman.
There are a pile of widgets and content and blah blah blah added to this tv but the only one that catches my eye is the ability to connect to computer networked content. Basically if you have a router in your house wired or wireless this tv gives you access to all of your media.
I am not sure if there is a reason but this television also pulls in more of my local antenna based channels better than any of my other televisions hooked to the same antenna.
I have read complaints that there is no s-video connection on this television which makes me wonder who is trying to get the best picture they possibly can from their laser disc player. Its not needed
The only people that should look in another direction for an HDTV are heavy gamers, or those with habits that would encourage burn in (stock tickers, computer monitor...) or if you are a fan of dejudder processing (found mostly in LCDs).
I have read a lot about people with tvs that buzz or with pink blotches on the screen, mine does not and is in every way perfect. I would encourage anybody that gets one of the flawed models to stick with it and return it until you get one the way it is supposed to be. Also, if you live at high altitude stop complaining everybody knows plasmas buzz above 7000ft
Buy this tv

For all the KURO fans. I bought 3 count them 3 KURO and all 3 went bad. Pioneer was of no help . a 50 KURO goes for 3500 now maybe 3000 if your lucky and this unti is 2200-2500 for a 58 inch so do the math a grand . I had heard KURO was the way to go but after returning 3 in 6 weeks because of power shutdown problems and Pioneer stating they knew it was a problem and was coming out with a firmware in the next 6 months.. 6 months give me a break. Rock on Samsung

Really? " there is two"? So what you are saying is that you got the end of year superbowl discount price. Guess what, if you buy a tv any other week than the last week in january you will pay at least $1000 more for the entry level pioneer the other 51 weeks of the year. and to quote the venerable mr katz "we don't think the newest "Kuro" is worth the steep price of entry for most high-end HDTV shoppers.".

I paid 1999 for my Kuro 5020 two months ago. You call that a t h o u s a n d dollars more? I also own a Panasonci 50pz800u and which is my new bedroom tv after getting the Kuro. There is two types of people in this world, those that own a Kuro and those that wished they did.

I have to say if you can go to Best Buy and look at these sets side buy side and say the Kuro is worth a t h o u s a n d dollars more than the Samsung or the Panasonic then you have extraordinary standards indeed.

It has great color but black levels are not even in the same ballpark as the Kuros. Everyone needs to get a Kuro before they run out.
