"Holy Freaking Crap This TV Is AWESOME!!!"
on by K-RiveraPros + Picture Quality: Superb. Awesome. Incredible.
+ Sound quality is fine
+ DirectTV HD is also flawless
+ Blacks do look deeper and richer
+ 2D-to-3D feature is pretty cool
+ There are 4 HDMI inputs in the rear of the TVCons - Slightly sluggish interface in the Ehub
Summary I received the D7000 a week ago and thus far I have been blown away.
Update Link
Aesthetic Appeal: I love the look of the TV. It is razor thin compared to plasma models in the past and the small, charcoal colored bezel gives it a classy look. I previously had a Samsung 50 inch plasma and I was quite surprised that the D7000 at 51" is about 5 inches smaller (in width) than my previous TV (yet the screen size is actually bigger). They really have slimmed the bezel down in the last 3 years, which I think is pretty slick looking.
Picture Quality: Superb. Awesome. Incredible. I cannot say it any clearer. Crisp, clean, vibrant images that leave my mouth dropping. Blu-ray is incredible. My daughter has some Tinkerbell movie on Blu-Ray and the picture quality is INCREDIBLE. I actually don't mind watching Tinkerbell anymore... I only have the TV on moderate brightness...I hear than giving the unit some "break-in" time is important. Still, the picture quality is great.
DirectTV HD is also flawless. ESPNHD, FoxNews and even the Disney channel look amazing. 600 Hz for Sports is the way to go- none of this 240 Hz LED crap... Plasma is DEFINITELY the way to go for sports folks! 3D content is pretty sweet too (see update below).
I did notice that the "Eco" setting does result in some random dimming of the image as previously stated by other reviews. I turned that fetcher off and everything is perfect.
I actually went with the D7000 because of the "Real Black Filter" feature. I don't know if it makes a huge difference, but I do notice less glare than the previous model I had in a well lit room, and the blacks do look deeper and richer. Of course, this is a subjective thing...but I do consider myself a pretty tough critic.
3D Quality: I watched Shrek in 3D right after hooking it up. I hate that damn movie, but it was pretty impressive in 3D. I have DirectTV and am still trying to figure out how to pipe the 3D channels to my TV...stay tuned. The 2D-to-3D feature is pretty cool too. It is not as good, dare I say, as Shrek on Blu-ray...but it is pretty cool and does a fair job.
Sound: Quality is fine. It does seem to require a higher setting than my previous TV, which just means that you have more control over the intensity of sound.
Features: There are 4 HDMI inputs in the rear of the TV. I have a blu-ray, DirectTV receiver and a computer hooked up to this puppy. The remote is the same remote that has come with the past few blu-ray models. Doesn't matter to me, as I use the DirectTV remote for everything. There are also a VGA input, Ethernet input, and component inputs. The SmartTV thing is interesting...still don't really care much about it. There are features to stream video content from your PC. The TV recognizes my PC, but I haven't had time to play with this.
Overall, I'd give this thing 5 stars and would recommend to anyone. Amazon was great to deal with and it is by far the best price around. I got a 3D blu-ray, 3D starter kit and the TV for less than Best Buy was asking for just the TV.

"Excellent picture quality and beautifully designed."
on by artistxxPros Contrast, black levels, great for motion/sports, slim, clean design. Wide viewing angles, sound better than expected for this slim of a tv.
Cons Color fidelity not as accurate as my, apparently, unrealistic expectations. Skin tones from highlights to mid tones can have some banding and a be a bit too saturated in the reds. Doesn't come with 3D glasses (which is typical of most sets).
Summary I edit photographs on hi-resolution computer monitors so I'm used to great color accuracy. This set is almost up to the color quality (gamut) of my NEC monitor, which is amazing for a tv. I wouldn't hesitate recommending this to anyone looking for a well-priced, hi performing tv.

"WOW!!! Awesome tv!!!!"
on by kudanrtPros Awesome Hd, very nice 3D and very nice looking frame. :) Perfect for watching movies. And as thin as a LED tv!! WOW!!! Really enjoy all the calibration options it gives you! This tv comes with the works with picture and picture, 3D, Netflixs, blockbuster,
Cons Alot of screen blur when there is fast action and the camera moves fast from left to right. In which you can use the cinema smooth but you sacrifice the blacks. Another is Image Retention. This being my first Plasma im not use to trying to be careful afte
Summary This HdTv is an amazing advancement in tech I like to believe. With realistic colors and very dark blacks that just make the hd just pop. Making it seems as it were in 3D. The added extras that you probably won't really use as much( Like Apps and so on.)Are an added plus! This tv actually has very little minor cons. Image retention(which could lead to burn-in) being one of the major. But makes an awesome add to your hometheater! Throw in a descent surround system and your set baby!!! :) Yes i recommend to buy this tv! If your not to sure try to purchase from Amazon and give it a try! If not fully satisfied then return it for a full refund in which i'm sure that you won't be... yup after you get a load of what this baby can actually do!!!

"The TV was $1,500 and after 5 months it stopped working"
on by RayburncountryPros Good picture when it worked.
Cons The TV was $1,500 and after 5 months it stopped working. While watching the TV is just cut off. I found a crack in the screen behind the glass on the plasma screen. I called Samsung and they came and looked it only to state there was no physical damage
Summary I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER SAMSUNG PRODUCT AFTER READING ONLINE HOW TERRIBLE THEY ARE AT CUSTOMER SERVICE AND PRODUCT QUALITY. READ THE ONLINE BLOGS AND YOU WILL NEVER BUY A SAMSUNG TV. I REALIZE IT IS NOT 100% OF THE TV'S SOLD, BUT THE STATISTICS ARE WAY TO HIGH FOR ME TO SPEND MY HARD EARNED MONEY ON. I HOPE THIS HELPS SAVE SOMEONE FROM WHAT I AND MANY OTHERS HAVE GONE THROUGH.
part of my post was left off, Google or search CNET for "samsung cracked plasma" and you'll get all the information you need not to buy a SAMSUNG product ever again

"A TV that makes you say "WOW!""
on by xelalex24Pros + great picture and colors
+ great features
+ a lot of controls and settings for picture quality
+ out of the box calibrations are pretty good
+ great with console and video gamingCons - not enough legacy connectors
- would be nice if it had an HDMI connector on the front.Summary It usually takes me months before I decide to buy any new piece of electronics. However, this TV was a spontaneous buy relative to what I go through selecting anything, partly because of the deal that Amazon was having and partly because of the user reviews on Amazon and other sites. So, after taking a leap of faith, I'm just blown away! I'm very picky because of my background in TV and Video, but after a week with this new TV I'm very satisfied.
Picture: The picture is just amazing. The color seems so rich and the contrast makes the blacks just pop out. My wife asked me if the TV was one of those "no need of glasses" 3d TV. It took me a few seconds to realize that the picture quality to my wife was so good that she thought that was what was considered 3d. She will be amazed when we actually watch a 3d movie.
Features: The SmartTV is great in creating a web enabled TV with many really cool applications. THe best part of this TV is the amount of picture related settings that are available for the TV. It really allows you to modify it to your liking. The 4 hdmi is great and all, but I do wish that the TV had more legacy connections since they are still around in many cameras, etc.
For Gamers: I'm a big gamer, and can't wait to play the PC version of Skyrim on this TV, but in the meantime I have to enjoy my xbox games, which I'm really enjoying them. With the plasma TV delivery a refresh rate of 600 hz my games looks so crisp, and playing the demo of Madden 12 I was just blown away. So I can assure you that this TV is perfect for gaming. It also had a Game Mode but I haven't seen the difference with it on or off. It looks great with it on or off.
