"Best picture I have ever seen!!" on by rynprns_86
Pros: The picture quality is stunning right out of the box. Analog cable even looks great! I also have a PS3 connected and Blurays, games, and DVDs look amazing. The TV is super thin. It looks sexy on and off. Black levels and colors are great.
Cons: There is a slight buzzing from the TV. I can't hear it with normal volume and the buzzing is normal for a plasma screen.
Summary: I was surprised by the picture quality given by regular cable. The colors and black levels are superb! I was deciding between this plasma and the new LEDs. I compared the two in store and came to the conclusion that the picture quality on this plasma was far better than the LED. I even noticed that this plasma was much brighter than a lot of other plasmas available. It was comparable to the LEDs. I was also comparing the 8 series to the 5 series plasma for obvious cost reasons. Ultimately, my girlfriend and I decided that the 8 series was worth the extra price. For those of you considering mounting your new TV on your wall, BUY THIS TV! We seen a demo set up of this TV mounted on a wall and it looked far better than any wall mounted TV I have seen. The TV only sticks out two inches from the wall and looks like expensive art!
I had some time to play with the preloaded content on the TV and thought it was a nice touch. There are some great recipes and relaxing slide shows. The cartoons are cheesy, but fun. I haven't got a chance to connect the TV to the internet, so I can not report on the connectivity features. Anybody know where I could find a cheap WiFi dongle for this tv? I have connected my USB thumb drive. My movies and pictures played back smoothly with great color and detail.
I purchased a PS3 along side this TV and the DVD and bluray picture is the best I've seen. I would highly recommend the PS3 as flexible and feature loaded blueray player.
For all you guys "going green" but still want the plasma, Samsung's plasmas are 40% more energy efficient than last years plasmas.
I really can't complain about anything this TV offers. The price is high, but worth every penny. -
"Very pleased with the performance" on by etcbeatty
Pros: Large picture & deeply saturated colors
Cons: I would like a brighter white without cranking up everything
Summary: There's a lot of features that this unit offers that I've never used... such as the internet connectivity, the internal speakers and the many video sources. I use this with an Onkyo receiver, a 7.1 speaker system and a programmable remote that makes this a very simple to operate home theater system.
This system produces a terrific picture with a high quality source (any good HD/BR). I generates a fair amount of heat... If it was used in a room way too small for its size then that could be an issue. I can't comment on the internal speakers since I don't use them but I am not sure who would by a display like this without using *some* sort of external sound system.
I haven't heard any buzzing whatsoever, nor have I had any performance issues in the year that I've owned it. It can be a little scary dropping this much coin on such a purchase, but I've been very, very happy with it. The only complaint that I could offer would be that, to get a really bright white, you need to crank up the brightness, color, et al. I watch a lot of hockey and like the sheet of ice to look realistic. I tweaked the controls to create a little more intensity than the out-of-the-box settings but I avoid maxing anything out. I have not had the system calibrated, nor have I tried it myself (though I intended to do so, you won't find a calibration DVD at the local hhgregg).
Low maintenance, easy to use, great picture. Nice purchase. -
"Best colors I have seen. Great on any resolution." on by GZapata76
Pros: Great colors. Great on any resolution. Works awesome with AnyNet+. Great black and shadow. Blu-rays look awesome.
Cons: Buzzing sound. One broke before, but got it replaced, even though it took a month. But it's not the TV fault. The speakers are not that great, and are on the back. Great if you are using a Surround sound.
Summary: Love the the colors and the everything about it.

"Hard to beat" on by fussysod
Pros: Modern sleek design, plenty of features, wireless for internet connectivity, vibrant colours, very wide viewing angel.
Cons: Slight buzz, whites could be better, blacks could be improved
Summary: Best all round, you dont get any screen bleading or clouding like you get on LCD/LED's

"nice picture worst sound ever too slow change channels" on by David74656
Pros: Good weight so it's easy to move. Good Picture. HDMI is good, no compatibilty issues so far. I like that TV turns on when I turn on my Samsung HD/BluRay player.
Cons: Really bad sound. If the line level output was variable then I could just use an amp and speakers to compensate.
The set is very very slow to change channels or imputs. The recessed connectors are a pain. Should be top center with a longer spaceSummary: I choose this TV because of the review. It is my fault for not evaluatiing the TV for myself.
But the sound is sooo bad i can't believe it was not noted in the review. The remote control is almost as bad as my LiteON PVR's !
My guess is Samsung or a reviewer works for Harmony and I'll have to get one ofharmoney's expensive remote controls to control the TV and the audio separately.
