  • "Great TV, Awesome Value"

    Pros: Picture, set-up, apps, value

Cons: Only comes with 1 pair of glasses. Connectivity issues between wireless keyboard and some of the Apps

Summary: I replaced a 5 year old 40" Samsung LCD 720p which, at the time, was viewed as a very good set and had a price to match. I researched extensively for months and decided to go with plasma this time, because I can control the lighting in my family room and you get more "bang for the buck" over LCD, IMO. I got a great deal from HH G, who threw in Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse for twenty bucks along with the Samsung Blu-Ray 3-D DVD which was included in the bundle already. I have a Camry and went right in the trunk with the seats folded down (of coarse, the box was left at the store- You need 33" of width to do this). The set-up took less than an hour and that's prety impressive since I had to untangle the mess from my prior TV, which is paired with a Bose sound system, DVD and Wii gaming console. The wi-fi sync for both the TV and DVD player was a breeze. The picture is awesome (it was between this and the Panasonic ST50 and I'm glad I stuck with Samsung, given the ease of set-up and the controls), the 3-D is impressive as well. I've read the reviews of this TV and my thoughts are these: There's no issue with the stand, at all, being "wobbly". It even swivels seemlessly and, for a 60" TV, that's pretty impressive. Not sure what the "humming" noise complaint is as I haven't experience that. There are two adapters which come with this TV (meant to cancel-out electronic interference- They connect to the power cord) and perhaps the issue lies therein. One issue do see if that some of the Apps don't support the wireless keyboard- not sure what that's about, so I need to do some digging. You also need for than a pair of 3-D glasses if you have a family but those are my only two quibbles here. I used to have to turn on my DVD player, wait for it to boot up, then change the source on my TV and Bose system to watch a DVD or play Wii. No more: This TV works with what I have and does it automatically. The price is considerably less than a comparable LCD/LED w/ 240hz, so, if you can limit direct sunlight, this is the way to go, hands-down.
