Pros Excellent picture, Great 3d, Beautiful look. and BIG.
Cons Have tried and tried but so far can't come up with anything.
Summary This TV is fantastic. I have owned this TV for 2 months and would absolutely recommend it. I did a ton of online and in store research before I made my latest TV purchase of two Samsung TV's. The thing that I really seemed to struggle to find an answer for was, "Why is everyone trying to sell me an LCD when all the research I do points me to the Plasma?" It seemed that most of the things I read or heard from sales reps started with the LCD being the newer, better, stronger technology that was quickly if not already making the plasma a thing of the past. Yet the strengths of the LCD seemed of less value to me personally than the strengths of the plasma. I watch primarily sports and movies on my biggest screen.
What I finally landed on was the 63" c8000 Plasma for my basement and the 46" c8000 LCD for my living room. I have to be honest and say both of these TV's have surpassed my expectation (and that is not easy!) and I have been very pleased with both sets. That being said the plasma I feel does provide a better price, better 3d quality, better handling of the fast motion I find in my movies and sports as well as a more "true to real life picture" than the LCD. The LCD picture is amazing and the only way I can describe it is "better than real life picture." Both of these sets seem to provide excellent off angle view, good black levels and neither washes out with sun or artificial lighting. This is something I was concerned about as both up and down stairs I have a wall of picture windows. It has been my experience that the plasma actually outperforms the LCD when subjected to sun light (though it is not supposed to). As I mentioned I have no problems with wash out on either set but the LCD has a more reflective screen and while it certainly out performs my old TV (by a lot!) it does at times have some issues with glare (or more accurately reflection) that the plasma does not.
While I am disappointed with the amount of content currently available the 3d feature of this TV is stunning. I have watched 3 3d blue rays so far, including the "How to Tame your Dragon" that came with the starter pack. This was the most impressive I have seen so far. I had taken my children to see this movie when in the theaters and I am here to say the 3d effects on the Samsung were better than they were at the theater. I was very impressed. I have also watched two college football games on espn 3d. They were fun and on these games broadcast in 3d they seem to make a point of taking more low angled shots so you get more opportunity to be wow'd by the 3d effect. However I have also watched a couple of Chiefs games converted to 3d and they are nearly as good. The 2d-3d conversion does an excellent job (much better than my friends Mitsubishi) however I would warn that football games tend to last a bit long for 3d and I have found that I tend to suffer from eye fatigue before I have watched an entire football game in 3d.
The last thing I wanted to address is the concern I had with a "buzzing noise." I had read quite a few reviews that warned of this. Hopefully I never experience it but after the first two months I can report no such noise. On several occasions I have made a point to stick my ear right up against the TV and have heard nothing.
All and all this is a fantastic TV, I would recommend it to anyone and am very pleased with my purchase.
Pros Picture Quality, Features, 3D Done Well
Cons I can't think of any.
Summary A good buy and worth every penney.
Pros You can literally see the pores on people's faces. You feel like you are filming the movies with the camera men. The 3D is just like in the theaters, it jumps out at you, and it's actually more clear and close up than at the movies!
Cons Critics may have nit picky things to say, but I don't have one negative thing to say about this 3D Plasma HD TV! I got a package deal with Speaker Craft speakers and receiver and bass at Best Buy, so I didn't even pay full price. Even nicer!
Summary If you don't want to wait for 3D in HD on a big screen at home, get this one now. Why pay much more for a Sony, when this is the best picture, even next to the big screen!
Pros the picture is so sharp ,the movies are so real that you feel like you are in the scene with the actors...the 3d in this tv is great.i have about 7 3d movies and i love watching in 3d it really puts you in the scene also can play my xbox in 3d too..
Cons dont own it long enough to complain really,,just be carefull with the 3d glasses they break so easy, somehow 2 pair broke in two days and i was there to see that nobody sat on them,, samsung says they will warranty them ? i will see if they do
Summary this tv is amazing, if you watch hi def movies you can see every pore on the actors faces,wow...the tv can convert 2d to 3d and that feature is also amazing, some shows using that feature come out better than others but still, to have the abily to do that is great. i watched a pbs show on yellowstone park and i did the 2d to 3d conversion and WOW i felt like i was there, all of my 3d movies are great to watch in full 3d,my kids love it too...i hooked up a samsung hcw 700 3d reciever and there 3d blueray player to match and i have a polk surround bar under the tv and it all looks great ,, i have the tv 3 weeks now and i love it,,the xbox 360 games play great and sceen burn is not an issue,i have not seen any gousting at all and yes xbox can be played in 3d too. cod black ops is fantastic in 3d mode
Pros Excellent picture quality, simple user interface, sleek design, Anti-glare screen, reasonable price for the performance.
Cons mediocre sound system, sluggish online menu
Summary I was eager to get my hands on one of these sets to put it through its paces. I must say that it was worth the wait. I was surprised at the picture that this set produced right out of the box with its preset modes. Even more surprising was the level of calibration options that are available without breaking out my laptop. After running test patterns and tweaking the movie and ISF presets (2hours) I settled on ISF day for my optimal settings. The set provided a very accurate grayscale and RGB reading considering I wasn't using my computer. The only thing that surprised me was the motion processing. The set did pass my test patterns but didn't score as high as I expected considering this was a "flagship" model. That being said the set still delivered an enjoyable experience in all the different demos that i put it through. Its 2d image makes this set easy to love considering the only competition is either no longer available or $500-$600 more. I was also pleased by the way the screen handled direct light. it actually maintained great picture quality where older plasmas have failed horribly. I didn't spend to much time in 3d mode since I was disappointed that you have to adjust the set again for 3d. It did however produce a nice presentation for the avatar3D bluray a little birdie slipped me. My only real complaint is that the online interface still remains too sluggish for my taste. It takes far to long to log on and que up a video for playback compared to plugging up my laptop. Sound quality was as expected. The sound was fine for normal TV (news, sitcoms) as long as you didn't mind going into the sound menu. However, I would recommend even a basic sound system for movie or sport viewing. The final thing that seals the deal on this set for me is the design. Its thin design and icon driven menu is better than any other plasma in the market, and just as slick as most LED backlit sets. All in all a great set for any room and any occasion.
