"Buyer Beware"

Cons: Price, Quality, and Samsungs horrible warranty
Summary: Buyer beware of Samsung all Samsung T.V's are plagued by cracking bezel defects, cracked screens and dead pixels. If you have any problems with your television even if it is under warranty Samsung will not fix it. They will send a repair guy out to your house within a couple days of your warranty claim than they will be MIA. They won't return your calls or even give you an update on the status of your warranty. in my case I have been waiting for 2 months and no one wants to tell me anything. If you need more proof check out the better business bureau or the Ontario Ministry of consumer services Samsung is on the buyer Beware Data Base.
After threatening Samsung with legal action my bezel was finally replaced today 4 1/2 months after a repair man came to look at the T.V. My T.V was 5 months old when I submitted my warranty claim. In regards to the previous poster, this is not a rant but a truth of events of how Samsung treats it's customers in relations to repairs for known factory defects as for comments I will take them with a grain of salt for that is all they are worth. Buyers have a right to know if specific manufactures have shady business practices and don't honor their warranties and your comments suggest that all manufactures sell lemons well this is not one lemon but one of thousands!

Updated on Mar 7, 2010swimman I did not crack the bezel while hanging my TV sits on a stand and it is a known factory defect the Bezel was cracking on the from the inside. I think you should read other forum complaints about this posted by other not happy customers before you start making accusations. What are you another Samsung Rep? Note there is known manufacturing defects with bezels , bubbling and cracking from the inside out yet Samsung does not care to correct the problem. I bet this new bezel will start cracking as well after a few months that would explain there delay that way they would not have to replace the bezel twice in 1 year.

I find it helpful when people comment on customer service.I have a Samsung av receiver hw-c560. It fried hdmi board after 3 months. 4 weeks to get fixed.3 months later hdmi board fried again Changed hdmi, still dead, now waiting for mainboard. It will be another month still. I owned this unit 8 mnths 2 months it is in for repairs.Samsung has replaced 2 hdmi boards and now the mainboard, they had 1 tech come to my house for a useless service call. They were going to send prepaid shipping labels. They are now going to mail me a remote. They are going to pay to have the unit delivered to me now. If it is now fixed it seems like a lot of money to spend on a unit that is selling right now for $280.00. This has been the worst customer support I have ever received from being bounced around support workers and having to explain everything multiple times to the local company that forgets to call me, lies to me about work being done and when unit will be ready, and taking forever to do the work.

Hello "Buyer Beware" I have the same problem with my Samsung. Had a technician come out today and they said it would jot be covered under warranty, was hoping you could give me some tips on what actions you took with them, as I will surely be calling to speak with someone at Samsung. Thank YOU!

My Samsung is dead after only 4 years. Is this the normal life span of a LCD TV? Or is this the typical life span of a Samsung? I'm kind of leary of buying another Samsung knowing that I'll have to replace it in 4 years.

Since you mention Ontario, I have to assume you are Canadian. You should have contacted Consumer Affairs Canada. They can mediate and ensure a company honors their warranties. They even have the power to fine companies.
I have to say I own two Samsung LCD monitors I am very happy with, and I owned a Samsung cell that was pretty good as well.
In Manitoba the law states that if a person cannot get satisfaction from a manufacture regarding warranties then the store the person purchased the product from is responsible for fulfilling the warranty obligations. This is great for people who shop in their own province and don't purchase from websites.
I feel bad you had such a run around, especially since it was just a cosmetic problem. How do you like the TV otherwise? -
So why did you wait 5 months to submit a warranty claim for a cracked bezel? Did you not inspect it when you opened the box? You could have taken it back to the store if it was broke when you opened it, or did it magically break later so then it was Samsung's fault. I would bet that you cracked the bezel while hanging it and then submitted a fraudulent claim.

How are we supposed to know if you even own the tv when the review says nothing about the tv?? It's just a rant on all Samsung tv's. i'm not a samsung rep and have actually owned this tv since it first came out. Calling peopel ignorant just makes you look childish. For goodness sakes REVIEW THE TV, don't use a tv review to rant about the company. I don't care which brand you buy there will always be some folks who get lemons and/or get bad customer service. That's just the way it goes no matter if you buy Sony, Samsung, Panasonic, LG, etc. If you would actually post a review of the tv and your problems that would help everyone much more than your Samsung rant. Accuasations of Samsung posting fake reviews just show that you are extremely paranoid and ticked off at Samsung so you're looking to say anything to give people a negative perspective on the company. Before accusing them of something that dirty you'd better have proof or you just come off looking half crazy.

I'm looking into the UN55B8500 so I'm doing some research on it. In regards to this persons review of "all Samsung televisions" I would like to share my experiences with Samsung's customer service. My first ever HD TV was a Samsung 50" plasma. It had some problems with a humming sound from the panel. I called Samsung and they sent a repair guy out within 3 days of the phone call to fix it. The problem with the panel continued so I called again. 3 days later another repair guy came out and called Samsung in front of me and told them it couldn't be fixed. Samsung offered me either a brand new TV of the same model or I could pick a new TV model and they would give me full 100% credit for my plasma for any other model I wanted. I went with their 46" LCD 1080P instead. After receiving the 46" LCD a Samsung called me to make sure I was happy with the new TV. Samsung went above and beyond to make me happy. This is a true story and I'm a Samsung customer for life now. I hope my story helps.

I just can't stand it when ignorant people accuse someone who is righting a honest review of not owning the set or making false statements. Did you not notice the comments of the better business bureau or the government database website. I personally own three diiferent models of samsung T.V sets. I think samsung reps should stop posting fake reviews on the backs of honest customers. I and in relation to bobbden49 post there is no way that your T.V was fixed in a week and 2 days it take a few weeks just to get a part ordered. Like I said no doubt posted by a samsung rep. I am selling my T.V sets and I am going to purchase a few LG sets instead at least LG honours there warranties! Shame on you few samsung reps that submitted posts here.

Juici1 do you even own this tv? Placing a review for a specific model of tv and using that "review" to post a rant about Samsung is just plain stupid. Making blanket statements like "all Samsung tv's are plagued by cracked bezels, etc." is just ignorant. Go to the Samsung forum on CNET if you want to rant. At least there are Samsung people monitoring that board. Posting this "review" here does not help your cause and only makes you look bad.

My Warranty experience was great! I had a picture defect, a darker 2.5" wide horizontal band on screen that appeared after 2 month.. Reported problem to Samsung. Was called by tech a couple days later, he ordered replacement screen, sight unseen, based on my description. They came out and replaced the entire screen a week later. Only complaint is that they did not tell me that TV had to taken off my wall mount and placed on stand until the day before the repair.
Picture quality is mindblowingly great, and worth every penny we spent on the unit. Which was purchased based on CNET review and eyeballing TV in Best Buy and Fry's. My Wife balked at price until she saw the unit on sales floor. Could not be happier! Even when I switched the floor model to "Standard Video" it looked better than other units dynamic screens. -
Cnet review indicates this is the best for 2009. Who would you go with if samsung does not stand by their product. I am about to buy my first flat panel.
Thanks, timhappyhiker -
Juici1,
THANK YOU for also putting your experience out there. Here is another link for you to review. It shows just how many 1000's of consumers are affected by this company and their bad business dealings. Good luck to you.

You should contact Samsung and let them know that if you don't get satisfaction you will be having your credit card company (that you bought the TV with) issue a chargeback. That will get their attention, and if it doesn't, you can still get your money refunded by the credit card company. It's a hassle but it sure beats being stuck with an expensive piece of crap and getting no satisfaction. Trust me... "chargeback" is a term retailers fear and most consumers have no idea about. The power is yours, now use it to demand satisfaction as a paying customer!

I have this set and have spent 3 months with it. Very impressed with the quality, picture and ability to customize.
