"Ultra Sharp Rich Image, Browser Not All It Should Be!"4.5 starson by Jacob-Griffith
Pros: + Best picture I have ever seen on any TV, 3D works fantastic
+ Colors are very nice
+ Due to local dimming the blacks are very dark
+ Lots of connection options
Cons: - Internet access is not all it could be
Summary: The TV is very nice, colors are very nice, and due to local dimming the blacks are very dark. Switching between cable channels is very quick, unlike the Vizio that could take up to 8 seconds.Edit:
Internet access is not all it could be. If you think you are going to watch all of your Internet streaming video on this TV it's not going to happen! I was able to stream video's from pbs.org without a problem. But I am unable to stream the "Ready For Love" series from NBC.com. The video never starts, nothing. For me it wasn't a problem as I have an Acer W700 Windows 8 tablet that I used to stream video via HDMI at 1080 x 1920 to the TV. By the way I did install the Samsung update for this TV via the Internet so that is not the problem...
I really think that the local dimming really makes the blacks really black. Yes you will pay more for a Samsung but you really do get what you pay for. My days of purchasing Vizio products are over.
Setting up 3D, assemble glasses, insert battery. This hardest part is figuring out that you have to hold down the sync button on the glasses until you see a message on the tv that the glasses are paired to the TV. There really is no way to indicate that process using their picture only direction sheet!
3D works OK I can detect that the lens are switching on and off but it's not really that noticeable. I really wanted passive 3D as offered by Panasonic and LG so I was intentionally not planning on purchasing a Samsung. But when my requirements list was completed it turned out that Web surfing using a usb or blue tooth keyboard and local dimming as offered by Samsung made it an easy decision to change my mind and get this TV.
The reality is that when I had the Vizio I only watched 1 3D movie in the one year that I owned it. So most likely I will not utilize 3D that often with this TV set. I have read that the sync signal emanates from the bottom part of the picture frame and that having a sound bar in front of the TV will interfere with the sync signal reaching the 3D glasses. I can report that this is not an issue with my Sony sound bar sitting in front of the TV.
All in all this TV is a quality offering. If the web browser was able to play all formats of streaming content from the Internet then this TV would have earned 5 stars. Lastly, recommend to check low price before you buy at: hdtvscost.blogspot.com/p/samsung-un55f6400.html
