"Good Value LCD that has it's limitations and flaws"
Pros: True HD 1080P, 3 HDMI inputs, Beautful Design
Cons: poor 480i picture & horrible prefactory settings
Summary: I bought this TV to replace my sony wega 32inch LCD flat panel.
Pros:
1. Excellent 1080P picture quality
2. Three HDMI inputs and two component inputs to connect all of your HD goodies.
3. The design is truely one of the best looking LCD TV's on the market.
4. One of the best values for the amount of money you're going to spend on a 42" 1080P TV on the market.
CONS: Please Read
1. My biggest gripe about this TV is the fact that the prefactory setting are horrible. I promise you will think you have bought a lemon when you watch this TV for the first time. If you know nothing about picture settings such as contrast, tint, color, backlight, then please have someone who does adjust the settings on your TV.
2. Unlike my previous Sony LCD, 480i dvds look like pure garbage on this TV. I ended up buying an upscale DVD player for about $85 and an additional HDMI cable for $50 just to upgrade the quality of my 480i dvds. 480i dvds (standard dvds) look awesome on my Sony which is why I couldn't believe how much of a downgrade they looked on my new Sharp. Please buy an upscale dvd player when buying this TV. I am one who is neither sold on HD or Blue Ray yet so I plan to wait to see who will win the battle before investing in an HD player.
3. If you watch any 480i movies on this TV they should be viewed around 6 to 8 ft from the screen as anything closer and the image appears very pixelated.
4. The power cord is very short on this TV making it difficult to conceal.
5. Although the TV has plenty of HD connections the location of the HDMI inputs are not very friendly for hiding the cords especially the 3rd HDMI connection which is located on the right side of the TV frame if you're facing it.
Overall I'm very satisfied with this TV but if you have the money and are not looking for a bargain then go with a Sony 42 1080P LCD. If you're looking for a bargain than go with this Sharp as will be just as suitable as one of the more expensive LCD out there.
