"Superb TV with an incredible picture."

    by Cmdr21 on November 20, 2006

Pros: Great Color and Resolution, almost 3D at times

Cons: Could have more accessible inputs on front or side.

Summary: I purchased this Flat Panel on line and less than two days later it was delivered. Observations:
    1. Great Packing, easy unpacking.
    2. Easy installation on a wall bracket.
    3. Well laid out connections, however a more accessible side connection for a game or Video camera would have been nice.
    4. Easily understandable Operators Manual.
    5. Incredible picture out of the box with no adjustments at all. No sign of the banding problem talked about, at least none after one week.
    6. User friendly menu very intuitive.
    7. The viewing angle provided by the company is correct, but like all LCD's brightness is somewhat diminished at angles over plus or minus 45 degrees off of center.
    8. In my opinion the picture quality is equal to greater than the Sony Bravia 46 1080p panel, and the Sharp is 6 inches bigger. Who said size dosen't matter.
    9. I paid less than 3 grand for this unit and it just rocks. I am using it in a monitor mode with Comcast HD TV. Don't even think of taking it away from me.

The more I watch this LCD TV the more impressed I am with it. I have not found any of the banding problems discussed on various sites. The picture is clear, bright and crisp. HD viewing is just outstanding.
    Updated
After watching several programs I kept seeing what I assumed to be ghosts, but the more I watched I realized that the ghost were in fact vertical Bands on the Screen. I managed to get a totally gray screen and observed at least six vertical bands and many horizontal bands. I have reported this to Sharp who informed me they were aware of the problem, assigned me a case number and assured me that they would notify me when a fix was available. Very professional and concerned. I still fell that the quality of the picture is outstanding but the banding problem should be fixed. Would I return the set, No. I can honestly say it is the best picture I have ever seen on a LCD flat panel and the banding can be ignored, if you even know it is there.

I'm just wondering if the banding issue that most people are talking about actually is noticeable in normal use, and interferes with more than just a gray screen.

About the banding issue.....How are you hooked up? HDMI? Component? Does the banding occur during DVD playback only, or in all modes?
    Thanks for the great review!

You mentioned that you paid under 3K for the TV on-line. What store did you get it from. It sounds like they have fast shipping too.

    Thanks,

    Dave
