"Spectacular.....as long as you don't get a lemon."
Pros: Great picture; nice design; easy to use
Cons: fewer inputs; no front input;
Summary: I did a ton of research on all manner of over-50 inch plasma and LCDs. I had really not considered this TV, or other large LCDs, because of price. But I happened to be in BrandsMart one day and noticed the nice picture on it. The sales rep said the "special price" was $3299. When Circuit City agreed to sell it to me for $3250, I thought it was a no-brainer.
I talked to managers at Circuit City, BrandsMart, and some online retailers about the quality control issues. None reported any returns on the 52-inch model. I think there's a clear reporting bias on CNET and suspect the QC issues are much less prevalent than suggested here.
I've had my TV up for about 2 weeks and have had no problems at all. The sound and picture are excellent. Maybe the 46" version has more problems? For the $3250 (from a reputable, local dealer), I think this is the best TV money can buy.

I did say I would follow up on my Nov 7 report. It has had lots of use and the quality of picture is still superb, warm, crisp and well balanced. Since this a new factory though it seems some people with early production may have had problems. My dealer reports no returns.

I went through three of these things before getting one without major banding and streaking issues. The one I finally got isn't perfect, but it's not bad. I may call sharp sometime in the coming months, but I'm in no rush. They gave me the full purchase refund of my 45" sharp that had a defect with digital video that they could not fix.
