"If other TVs are better, it is academic only."
4.5 starson by sandycalderPros: SIZE. Clarity and color. SIZE. No brainer setup to get up and running out of box. Enough macro presets for color-pic-bright setings to get quality easily. Many adjustments available for tweaking later - I will buy an A/V setup disc. As a pilot who h
Cons: Wimpy sound. No local dimming. Zero print instructions. (Manual online). Could have put in 1 page giving the URL to info. No bluetooth. IR instead of RF remote.
Summary: Looked at TV replacement of 2005 Samsung 720p plasma about since I bought it. Finally gave it to daughter and had nothing. Was going with the same top rated Vizio 55 I have at another location but was intrigued by the size of this TV. It is now in a great room that the seating is 15 feet from TV. Perfect distance. When in kitchen I am 30 feet and this is the right size. HH Gregg opened a new store in my town and it was 2978 discounted to 2798 and with an online 200$ coupon and further with pushing, I got it for 2469 plus tax. How could I say no? A note to experts. I have a discerning eye but come on! The blacks are black the yellows and blues REALLY ARE better, and it is just a great picture. Noone buys a TV for the great sound system so that is a non-issue. 120Hz is more than adequate for all motion issues. I love the clarity of the 120Hz and smoothing but my son does not. 'Ya better want absolute reality in the picture because it is crystalline. It is big, so be the proper distance from this TV. From 5 feet you can make out lines of resolution. I am no videophile but I do learn the technology before purchase. This TV is far enough up the hierarchy to satisfy all. This is day one of ownership and I watched a BluRay movie, the Preakness horserace, and broadcast 720p H Potter movie. Played with 480p inputs and this TV does it all. I am not a gamer. Did I mention it is BIG?! 62% bigger than 55 inch, 27% for a 60 inch and 14% for a 65 inch.
As a pilot who has flown over the Caribbean hundreds of times, I can attest to the variety and accuracy of the variegations of the blues of water at varying depths as seen in the third Narnia film. It REALLY IS better with the quad pixel technology.
