"Best 70 inch picture 3D picture is outstanding" on by BC5655

Pros: Super sharp black levels HD channels are really sharp on this set. The 3D quality is the best I have seen and I do have two 55 inch 3D sets and the quality is not even close. if you connect the set to the internet either wired or wireless you have several

Cons: Set is still new for the market place so all the codes needed for the universal remotes are not out so I have to hit 2 buttons to turn on or off all my devices. This should be fixed in a few weeks with a software release.

Summary: If you have the 7K to spend and a room that can handle a 70 inch set you will be thrilled with the quality off the Sharp Elite.

"THIS IS A MUST SEE TV! I gotta gotta have this TV!" on by islands0n

Pros: Awesome black levels, excellent color and picture quality! Excellent off angle viewing. Oh and its 70".

Cons: Price! Yikes! But then again, if you have to ask how much this set costs, then maybe you should consider something that isn't so ELITE.

Summary: Ok so the wife and I (and soon to be born baby) went to see this TV over at our Best Buy Magnolia. We own an ELITE Plasma 50" from when PIONEER made them, and to this day we absolutely love our TV. We still get compliments for its picture quality and most people leave our home wondering why their TV isn't so nice. I was extremely skeptical about this new LED version only because I don't particularly like even the best LED's to date, prior to this TV. BUT, and this is an 8000 dollar but, I must say, the picture, the color, the sharpness and clarity of this TV is phenomenal! Black Levels are no joke on this bad boy and I am extremely particular about black levels since I watch my ELITE plasma daily. 5 stars for sure for this TV.. my only question is how I'm going to come up with the cash to get one of these home! Before you buy anything else find this TV and take a look at it. If anything its free to see!

To David Katzmaier, will you be reviewing this ELITE any time soon? I am very interested to hear what you think of the advancements made in this TV, as we as your in depth analysis of its performance.

"Broke in 30 mins." on by stinkpaw

Pros: None, unless you like the picture to constantly change color.

Cons: $7000 for a TV that didn't last 30 minutes!

Summary: The TV was set up and delivered and I must say I was not impressed. The picture did not blow me away. My Samsung 8000 looks much better. For example, when playing Xbox tennis, the red clay of Roland Garros would change shade as I played. I'm not sure if this is a fair review as I hadn't tweaked any settings yet, but even if the settings weren't ideal the picture color shouldn't **change** in the middle of a game!

I threw in a Shrek Blu-ray and again the picture didn't wow me. It looked decent but dark. The screen on the TV is very reflective which is a negative that others have mentioned.

Switched to some high-def cable channels and had the same impression. Powered off the TV and read through the manual to learn about the different picture settings. Went to turn it back on and it wouldn't power up. The blue power light just kept blinking. Did a Google search and found out that means an internal circuit fault and the TV needs to be serviced. Total elapsed time: 30 minutes.

For the price I paid this TV should not only have knocked me on my keester but also done my taxes. It is unconscionable that a company has such poor QC that the best TV money can buy breaks in a half hour. That's like buying a Benz and having it break down driving home from the dealer.

Sorry Sharp, this TV is going right back.

"Saw it at local Magnolia...fell in love." on by souzas26

    Pros: True blacks. Absolute clarity.

Cons: Price. But hey, it beats the heck out of everything else.

Summary: My biggest concern, and rumor I read... is that there's an 80" version of this TV coming out in August 2012. Has anyone heard anything on this?? My room can handle 80 or more, I need to know soon because I 'settled' for this 70", and don't have much time before I can get a refund & wait for the 80". Thanks!!!

"Excellent TV with a few minor flaws" on by mindstorm360

Pros: Blacks are just as good or better than kuro black levels
    Whites and pure
    Picture detail is excellent
    Lots of picture tweaking controls
    Local dimming
Excellent 3D (2 sets of glasses included)
    Quiet (no fan noise)
    Doesn't produce lots of heat

Cons: No discrete remote control code support
Off axis the best of any lcd I've seen, but still not close to what a plasma can do
Blue, green, and cyan colors need some adjustment OOTB

Summary: One of the best HDTVs I've sever seen and hands down the best LCD when it comes to black levels and picture detail....even when compared to the Pioneer Elite Kuro plasmas. It can be pricey if you pay retail, but the 70" can be had for ~$6000 if you find the right dealer
