"2011 HDTV Shoot Out Calibrators Rate Plasma Superior!"
4.0 starson by wdlee123Pros: Black Level & Contrast
Cons: Color decoder errors, highly reflective screen. Purple goes blue!
Summary: Sharp Elite LED is a very good set and those paying the Elite Tax will be rewarded with arguably the finest set available; however, these Elite' have a color accuracy issue. Once Sharp releases a software glitch fix this set should be worthy of the CNET headline & accolades given by DavidK; however, the set still cost 2x larger Panasonic & Samsung Plasma's. In addition, after the 2011 "Value Electronics" HDTV Shoot Out posted on youtube, (2) of the many sets ISF calibrators D-Ice & Kevin Miller, felt the Samsung Plasma, with it's reference color accuracy, was the better TV (1-Pana, 2-Sams, 1-LG, 1-Sony, 1-Elite). The Elite LED did edge out the plasma's in black level. Maybe the next generation Elite TV's can take the trophy on all fronts. But with contrast so good on all the Shoot Out sets it makes sense to stick with plasma and use the saved money for keeping milk in the refrigerator and the kids in braces.
