"Exceptional TV" on by Rub3ns
Pros: Contrast ratio, phenomenal HD gaming, ease of configuration, vibrant colours
Cons: TV channel switch is a little slow
Summary: I've owned this TV for a few days now and I'm simply blown away by it. Everyone I have shown it too have all been incredibly impressed also.
Pros
-XBOX 360 games in 1080p are simply incredible to look at, especially in Gaming or Dynamic display mode. This television shines under these conditions.
-Automatic up-convert of lower display-capabilities to 1080p.
-Analog TV signals look better than expected, and the built-in features make almost any program look decent (i.e. noise reduction, stretch modes to wide screen do not look distorted, feature rich control over display settings without being difficult to understand, automatic backlight dimming depending on the room lighting, vibrant colours and excellent contrast ratio).
-Let me reiterate, the colour contrast is phenomenal. This is one of the most important features, if not the most important feature of an HDTV.
-Intuitive and easy-to-use menus, both for the techy and the layperson.
-Nice menu and on-screen display, which are very informative (i.e. when flipping TV channels, the channel includes information about whether the signal is analog or digital, as well as the type of sound).
-Ability to optimize picture based on whether the images appear fast (i.e. a sporting event) or slow (i.e. a movie drama).
-Switches only between active inputs as well as remembering input-specific settings (including audio).
-Sleek black display with no screen glare.
Cons
-Switching between televison channels is a little slow.
-Television audio is average. Although the built-in surround sound capabilities aren't bad, and sound kinda cool, a surround sound system would really do this TV justice.
IMHO, this is the best 37" 1080p widescreen television I could find that wouldn't break the bank. -
"Great Picture, Excellent Features" on by hb58
Pros: Picture, styling, built-in HD tuning, and flexible remote
Cons: Top panel controls
Summary: I've owned this set for about two months now and am delighted with its performance. The tv's positioned on a man's dresser so the top mounted panel controls are inaccessible. Fortunately, that limitation is obviated by the well laid out, lighted, full function remote. One feature that's very useful is the ability to store and access up to 16 favorite channels via the remote's 4 toggle type buttons. Very handy.
The ability of the tv's built in ATCS tuner to decode my cable systems local and cable network high def digital channels is a big plus. Never realized there were so many weather channels hiding in there.
Picture setup and format selection is very simple with Sharp's well thought out menu and selection system. Push the View Mode button and instantly change the screen size. External device selection is also made very simple via a pull down menu system which dynamically detects live inputs.
Whether watching hi-def programming from cable or a 1080p upconverting DVD player, the picture is nothing less than stunning. -
"A great tv" on by jpweiner
Pros: Bright, low profile, good price
Cons: No Picture in Picture
Summary: I got this to replace my Sharp LC-37D90U after my girlfriend threw the Wii controller through it and must say it is a fine tv in every way. It is brighter than the 37D90U and has better input connections on the back. It has a great viewing angle and the integrated speaker actually gives it a slightly lower profile that the old tv. The color is fantastic with a little tweaking and the price from J&R came in at 1300.00 delivered. Very satisfied. Only grudge is I wish it had Picture in Picture, but that is completely minor.

"Very good tv" on by fairydust171
Pros: sleek design, very good picture quality
Cons: not as good picture as sony bravia
Summary: This tv is a really good value because it is a 37 inch with 1080i. The picture quality is very very good, although the Sony Bravia seems to have better quality (although it is much more expensive and doesn't come in this size). In all honesty, as good as this tv is, and it definitely is, I might've gone with the 32 inch Sony Bravia if I had to do it again. It has the best quality out of any LCD I've seen.
If you want a very high quality 37 inch with a sleek design, this is your tv. Haven't had any problems and the screen quality is beautiful. It is definitely the best quality picture 37 inch out there. We are very happy with the tv and would definitely recommend it. -
"Very Pleased" on by dmainville
Pros: HD Picture quality
Cons: Analog Picture Quality
Summary: I got this a few weeks ago and am very pleased. Like others, i wanted 1080p in a small package.
I went with Sharp mainly because of the recommendations of people "very into" home theatre.
I'm glald I did.
From the way the unit was packaged through to the fit and finish - this is a quality product.
As for my "poor analog picture" comment. I suspect that this may be typical af any HD TV based on what i've seen on my friends TVs and in the Best Buy.
