"Great LCD TV"on by jpnorman
Pros All you could want
Cons You might not want to pay the price
Summary I choose the LC-37D7U really due to size. It fits in the space required by my old 35" dinosaur TV. With the speakers at the bottom it was the largest set I could buy without a tearout of my built in cabinets. That said I am not disappointed. It has all the features you could want and the picture, viewing angle and brightness are much better or as good as the conventional television set it replaced. I looked at plasma and could not tell a real difference in picture quality between this LCD and the plasma sets I saw. Plasma however is cheaper but I couldn't find a 37" plasma to buy so it became a moot point. Price is the only downside but prices have dropped since I bought the set and hopefully are expected to continue to drop. The only drawback I can tell is price but I recommend the set even at the price. You will not be disappointed. One last note the TV does put out a fair amount of heat which was surprising because I thought this was a plasma TV trait. Doesn't get hot but does get warm.Updated
My TV is now over 8 months old and all I can say is that I have had no problems and the set works great. With the price drop since I bought I would strongly recommend. I currently don't think there is a better TV at this size and price.

Pros Bright, vibrant display, amazing HD, lots of inputs
Cons Not true blacks, backlit
Summary This is the best LCD set Ive seen. Whether you prefer plasma to LCD, that is more of a preference issue. However, if you like the LCD picture, this is probably the best. The colors are simply amazing. Like looking at a window on your wall...that true to real life. However, it is an LCD, and it is backlit, and so the blacks will never be true blacks. Also the 170 degree viewing angle claim is largely crap in my opinion.
But besides from the awesome picture is the elegant look of the Sharp line. That is almost as impressive as the actual picture quality.
If your going to go HD get good cables!! I cannot recommend this enough. No sense in spending 2K on a set with $20 cables. They make SUCH a big difference. I bought Monster component cable initially but took them back when I realized that component only transfer HD in analog and not in Digital. Get HDMI or DVI, Monster preferably.
"Cable Card Problems"on by Ron2wdw
Pros Nice Picture
Cons Not all features work with the cable card installed
Summary Bought this set because of its Cable Card and TV Guide features. I did not want to have to use a converter box from my cable company and still have a TV Guide type display. Perfect TV, however what Sharp dosen't tell you in the instructions is that the TV Guide feature does not work when a Cable Card is installed. Sharp only tells you that when you call them about the problem. What good is that! The only reason one would want the TV Guide feature is if a Cable Card is used.
"one of the best"on by artimus
Pros unbeatable clarity, color and sharpness, no ghosting, excelent sound
Cons Remote is not universal, so it won`t control the dvd or Amp; normal TV looks grainy
Summary Got this model in Japan, at \230,000. So less than 2200.00 US, the picture is amazing out of the box, and the video deck, reciever and HDD sync up nicely using the auto input. As the TV has built in Sat. reciver here, HD programing looks amazing, My other TV is a Fujistu 42`` Plasma, and although the size difference is negligible, the quality is vastly different. Plasma tends to produce a warm picture, whereas the LCD is sharp and vibrant. By far one of the best produced...side note- Sharp is the only Company that manufactures their own LCD screen, and started LCD Television here in Japan. Well worth the \
Pros Image quality, low power consumption
Cons None that I've encountered in 2 weeks
Summary Great black levels and no visible lag... both the typical problems with LCDs.
This set draws a maximum of 195 watts so figure about 150W with the backlight set to normal; that's about 1/2 of a comparable size plasma. Less power, less heat equal longer life.
I'm about as picky as you can get and I have absolutely no complaints... don't think I've ever said that about any other product.
