"Awesome TV so far" on by rayray8822

Pros: Great picture, even from an angle

Cons: Can't switch inputs without remote

Summary: We chose Aquos because CNet said they have wide viewing angles, and we’ve found this to be the case. I can watch TV from the kitchen while doing the dishes (she cooks, I clean) and there’s only a slight, barely-perceptible lightness to the black parts of the picture, not enough to matter. From head on, of course, the picture is fantastic.

Another small bonus: being able to turn the screen off and listen to XM through our satellite provider through the speakers.

The only gripe I have so far is that everything must be done with the remote, including switching from satellite to DVD, etc. That would be fine if our DirecTV remote would do that, but it only seems capable of volume and menu controls. To switch to DVD, we have to use the Sharp remote . . . a pain.

"Just Installed - WOW" on by AZESS

Pros: Picture Clarity, Black Level, response time

    Cons: Not much yet.

Summary: I'd been searching for a hi-def television for ~3 months. Decided on LCD due to glare from adjacent windows. Had narrowed search to Sony XBR (cost), Samsung and Sharp. Was going to buy a 42" sharp 1080p when I saw the new LC-46D82U. Have only had it for 1 day and all I can say is I should have bought a Sharp sooner. Hi Def ESPN was awesome last night. Can't wait to watch the NBA playoffs!!!

"Top of The Line for Great Price" on by indiefan

Pros: Great Contrast Ratio, 120 hz with 1080p, Clear picture even with the fastest scenes.

Cons: Takes time to get picture setup and sometimes still needs tweaking, and no dvi for pc connect.

Summary: Sharp is the one to buy for LCD TVs. It took me three months of research between different TVs, and features and everything else, and it came to was the D92 set same at the same size. It was a little out of my price range so I went down to this model. Contrast ratio is 10,000:1 instead of 15,000:1 but you will not be able to tell the difference. Has same features as D92 except a DVI input, and this set has 4m wavelength instead of 5, but you can't tell the difference. Very little noise from most sources, dvd's at 720p look great, and I have my Xbox 360 hooked up and the crispness and colours look great at full hd on this set! The 120hz helps create smooth pictures all the time. Highly recommend this set to anyone. Plus the price is great for all the features you are getting. I also recommend picking up a TV setup dvd to make sure you are getting all the picture settings correct. If you are looking at the D92 set seriously consider the D82 especially for its price point. Its an amazing TV at a low price! You will not be disappointed.

"It doesn't get any better than this!" on by TigerTheLion

Pros: 3 designated HDMI outs; 1080p; 120hz; etc., etc

    Cons: Average remote otherwise nothing

Summary: Okay, so maybe it does get better than this but I'm coming from a 10 yr old 27" JVC CRT so for me this is friggin' heaven.

Waited more than a year to finally buy this for a few reasons: waiting for price drop (finally bought at $2,088 at The Brick in Canada on special promo); concerns over banding; waiting for the word on 120hz. It was worth the wait because I got a great price ($500+ CAD less than current prices) and my concerns over banding were quelled. Banding? What banding? Either Sharp finally got it right or this came from a different plant and banding is not an issue there. The 120hz is great. Really notice a difference watching hockey in HD, OMG!

Overall this is a great set and I haven't noticed any faults...yet. I'm somewhat reluctant to say it's perfect but I'm not sure I'll find anything worth complaining about.
